Veera calls for his reds to go home and stop rioting

By The Nation

Red-shirt leader Veera Musigapong on Thursday pleaded for the red shirts to stay on the course of non-violence, saying the mayhem in the past few days was tragic and not a true path of the reds struggle.

"I can confirm the red shirts are no danger to the country - they are patriots who love their country's institutions, oppose dictatorship and want to advance democracy," he said.

Veera said he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and that he was regretful for riots erupted.

"I have said countless times about the democratic struggle via non-violence means and it is undeniable what happened in the past few days are because my fellow reds were angry and disappointed," he said.

He said he understood their pains but it was time for all sides to let go of anger.

"Anger is destructive and the advancement of democracy can never happen by being angry and vengeful," he said.
