hello, my friend just asked me to post this, his current tourist visa just ran out today and he is scared to leave his apartment in Bangkok to renew his visa? i suggested the immigration office for an extension, but now we have a public holiday! so basically my question is how and where can he get a visa? and will he get away without paying the overstay?

I just got mine from Laos, free 2 month tourist visa! but he is pretty worried bout traveling anywhere right now.

Thanks Kevin

Immigration is closed till at least Monday. normally when he goes to immigration the first working day they are open again (Monday) he will not have to pay an overstay fine and can get a 30 day extension without any problem.

Alternatively he can travel to an immigration office outside of Bangkok and get an extension there.

There is no fine payable if you arrive on first day open after this closure (should be Monday). The extension of stay fee would still have to be paid.

Thank you lopburi, will pass the info directly to him and advise he takes up looking at the forum himself. I know its helped me during my 6 years in Asia, just wish someone would do a Laos section, so i could give some advice for a change!

ps I believe he is doing a border bounce now to Mae Sot by vip bus.

Thanks once again
