Bank Of America

Featured Replies

How many location does Bank of America have in Bangkok? Can a Thai nationality open an account at Bank of America? What I'm trying to do is get one of my relative to open an account at Bank of America, so I can transfer them money without having to pay high fee when wiring money. Thanks.

Won't work. Bank of America has a rep office in Thailand, but do not have a license for retail banking.

I had a Bank of America account and went into the office in Bangkok to see what services they would provide me.....only one....if all the atm's in bangkok went off line for more than 24 hours they would let me withdraw funds on my BoA atm card directly from them.....fat chance.

They can legally only do commercial banking.

Fat chance they would let you transfer without fees in any case. :o

Open a new account with your bank and obtain an atm or debit card which you then send to your relative to withdraw funds from almost any ATM in Thailand as needed (you control the input into the account). Fee is the non bank atm use charge and whatever they take off the top from exchange rate (normal 1 or 2%).

If you need to transfer large sums have them set up a bank account and you wire transfer direct using SWIFT code. You get full exchange rate (send dollars) and large fee of $25-50 is a low percentage of total transfer.
