Has any of you guys taken your Thai girlfriend to anywhere in CA before? How was it with the visa situation? I did the search thingie on delta.com and it doesn't really say much except that a visa required...It says visa can be obtained on arrival for Nicaragua though so if that's the case then it should be the first place to fly in and I'll work my way around to get visas for onward destinations. I'm hoping to get to Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras with a possibility of Costa Rica and Panama. So if you have any experience with visas for those countries, please feel free to share them!

This trip won't happen any time soon...maybe at the end of this year the soonest, just got back from Puerto Rico where I spent my fortune so it's now time to save up again.

I recall a member on here taking his girlfriend to Bermuda for which she didn't require a visa. Not exactly central America, but close enough. A little taste of the UK without the rain.

Scouse.

Depends on how you get to CA. If you end flying through the US she will need a transit visa. I think that is what it is called. All since since 9/11. Flying via Europe would be the easier way to go, but might be more expensive for airfare.

This is from the United Air lines website.

Dear Customer:

As you may be aware, on Saturday August 2nd, the United States Government notified all airlines of the suspension of its US Transit Without Visa (TWOV) and International to International (ITI) programs due to national security concerns.

These programs allowed customers to transit though the United States without a nonimmigrant visa while enroute from one foreign country to a second foreign country with one or more stops in the United States. The suspension of this program took effect on August 2, 2003 at 11:00am – Eastern Time – USA (4:00pm GMT).

We encourage all affected customers to obtain a U.S. Visa for their travel.

The following is additional information for reference given by the United States Government:

Exceptions to the Suspension of These Programs

The United Stated Government has established some limited provisions that allow certain affected passengers to continue travel as planned:

Passengers that were on the first leg of their journey could TWOV the US until 00:01 AM EDT (5:01AM GMT) Tuesday August 5, provided their ticket had been issued on or before July 24, 2003.

Passengers on the return leg of their round trip ticket can TWOV the US until 11:00AM EDT (4:00PM GMT) Saturday August 9, 2003.

Additional Information:

The United States Government has released media and public communication that can be found at www.travel.state.gov or www.dhs.gov

The United States Government has communicated to the various consular offices overseas, that passengers affected should be processed for a US visa on an expedited basis, including non-residents of that country.

United Airlines will be handling passengers affected by this measure on a case-by-case basis. If a customer has purchased a ticket on or before August 3, 2003, please contact United Airlines Reservations to adjust your travel needs.

So would be much easier to go via Europe

I plan to fly via the US, I have a visa that won't expire for many years. I recently got back from NY and Puerto Rico and the immigration there actually treated me a whole lot better than I expected. I'm just concerned about CA visas.

I will be heading to Bermuda soon too and yeah we don't need a visa for that :o

I don`t know about the Carribean, but for us Farang, Central american countries (Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua) are really easy... 90 days upon arrival.

Costa Rica and Belize may be different, I`m not sure, being puppets to the Yanks and us redcoats.

TG`s will have similar bureacracy as they have to go through in our own countries.

On a side note, Guatemala just apprehended something like 10 young thai men and women, who`d each payed 10,000 dollars to stowaway on a ship that docked here.

They were on their way up to the states.
