PatLogan
Your picture is more like a Singapore style fried kway teow which is sweet in taste. Thai has a similar dish called Pad See Yuu (or See Yu / See You / See Ew). Seeyuu is Teochiew for soy sauce which is dark and salty. Well even with slight variations, the Char kway teow I tried in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore were quite similar, and indeed quite sweet in taste. But kway teow is an Hokkien word, and it means flat noodles if I am not mistaken... My wife call them kway teow sen ya
BODYholic
But kway teow is an Hokkien word, and it means flat noodles if I am not mistaken... My wife call them kway teow sen ya Kway Teow can be either Hokkien or (Thai-)Teochiew depends on how one pronounces the word. Indeed, Kway Teow, in Singapore and Malaysia, refers to the white board flat noodles which is 'Sen Yai' in Thailand. In Thailand, Kway Teow is the generic name for noodles. Hence, 'kway teow sen ya' would mean Sen Yai noodles.
