Winger will not fly out with team-mates to South Africa

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk fears Arjen Robben may miss the World Cup after the winger suffered a hamstring injury against Hungary.

appeared as a second-half substitute in Saturday's friendly against Hungary and scored twice in the 6-1 romp before hurting his hamstring in the closing five minutes.

The Bayern Munichspacer.gif ace will undergo a scan on the problem on Sunday, meaning he will not travel with the rest of the Dutch squad to South Africaspacer.gif on Saturday evening.

Van Marwijkspacer.gif is hoping that Robben's injury will not prove serious enough to rule him out of the World Cup,spacer.gif but he is braced for the worst.

Does not bode well

"I would rather have lost this match and Arjen stays fit," said Van Marwijkspacer.gif after the Hungary game.

"He felt a sharp sting and that does not bode well. But I do not lose hope.

"I thought to myself, 'This can't be true'. He made an unnatural movement and injured his hamstring.

"You sometimes see that people with injuries like this are fit again in a few weeks. I'm hoping for that."

Robben had not featured in Holland's previous warm-up games after complaining of a hip problem and team-mate Robin van Persiespacer.gif admits the former Chelseaspacer.gif wide-man's latest setback has rocked the national squad.

Van Persiespacer.gif said: "I hope he's OK, because he's a very important player for us. Everyone is down now."
