Can you help us with the way from Bangkok to Ko Samet?

I pick my Girlfriend from the Bangkok Airport at Monday 02.30 pm up.

We have at night a hotel reservation in Ko Samet.

We know that the time is very short...

I think we have 2 opportunity:

  • "expensive one*
Take the Taxi from Bangkok to Ban Phe and then a Speedboat or Boat to Ko Samet
(is the last ferry at 6 pm ?)
  • "cheaper one"
Take a Bus form Ekkai to Ban Phe and then a Boat to Ko Samet.
Are in Ban Phe after 6pm Boats avaible?
  • other option?

Somebody have experice with (late) traveling to Ko Samet.

Thank you very much for your help.

I live in Ban Phe opposite Koh Samet and run Bedrock Guesthouse in Ban Phe. The bus from Ekkamai will take about 4 hours approx to get to Ban Phe. Better take a private car cost around 2400 baht. travel time about 2 hours so that should put you here about 4.30pm or 5pm. You shud have ample time then to get a boat. If past 6pm

u can still charter a speedboat. try White Shark boats. Costs probably 2000 baht +/-. All in all if u get stuck and cant get to the island u can stay in our guesthouse and hit the island in the morning. Our banner add is on the travel forum.

Good luck

From the airport, take a Shuttle Bus (free of charge) at Level 2 or 4 (Entrances 3,6 and 9) to the Public Transportation Center and board Bus#9906.

Route 9906

1. Bangkok (Chatuchak) (Expressway) - Suvarnabhumi - U-Tapao - Banchang - Mab Ta Put - Rayong

2. Bangkok (Chatuchak) (Expressway) - Suvarnabhumi - Mab Ta Put - Rayong

3. Bangkok (Chatuchak) (Expressway) - Suvarnabhumi - Rayong

Suvarnabhumi to Rayong -- departs 05:40,08:40,09:10,09:40,10:40,13:40,16:00 and 18:40 wink.gif

Ferries leave from Ban Phe between 08:00 and 18:00, and from Ko Samet every two hours between 08:30 and 16:30. If you want to travel any other time, it's possible to charter a speedboat. The cost for this should be 1,000-1,200B which can work out to be fairly affordable if you get a group together, but can be pretty steep if you're traveling alone or in a pair. The speedboat will drop you off on whichever beach you'd like -- but be prepared to wade to shore. It takes only 10 to 20 minutes to get to anywhere on the island by speedboat from Ban Phe.
