Ebook Reader

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if they sell ebook readers in Thailanf and if so where. I would like to buy the Sony 600.

Thanks

I don't really recommend this reader - I have one and it's not really that bright due to the touch screen.

Also the screen is a bit small but I guess it depends what you're going to read. I use it mainly for technical manuals so I could really do with a larger screen. If you're reading normal books then I guess the size would be ok but it's nowhere near as bright as the other offerings that are out there.

Just my thoughts.

If you can wait somehow: The Ebook reader drop in price due to competition and because of these iPad+similar devices.

I want to buy something like an iPad, just not from Apple and mostly use it to read Ebooks. Just I didn't saw a product which fully fits my needs.

I just use my Nokia 5800 mobile phone. you can download a program called mobi reader to read all the books you want.

This program is free of charge. they also have a program called mobi creator.

you can download text files, pdf's, word files and create new books which transfer automatically to the reader which then sends it also auomatically to your mobile.

When they sell these things for less than the price of a mobile phone I shall consider buying one.

Until then Kindle for PC works on my laptop.

I have a Kindle, and I like it.  THe only problem is that they won't sell some titles in Thailand, and while you can download a title to your PC ans supposedly transfer it to your Kindle so  as not to pay the international wireless downloading fee, the fact of the matter is that you can't read that book on your Kindle until you pay a $1.95 fee to unlock it.

My partner really wanted one badly a while back but we had no luck whatsoever finding a reader of any make/model on sale commercially in Thailand. We ended up just waiting, and bought one when we went to the States for Christmas at Best Buy there. He loves it, and rarely goes out without it from then till now! wink.gif

Now I'm a 2 year owner of an old Sony PRS 505. Eqipped with a 2 Gb SD card with more the one thousand books inside and still more than half memory free. I never move without my reader.

The best gadget of the last years.

Thanks for all the input and info but could anyone still answer the question have you seen any ereaders for sale in Thailand.

Thanks.

AFAIK, nobody sells Ebook readers in Thailand.

There are a couple for sale in the classified section. Seems to be new. Too expensive though, 12,000 or more if I remember well. Considering Nook and Kindle sell for $150 (<5000 baht) in US now...
