Hi guys, I am in the initial stages of preparing to apply for a Non-B type Visa. I am a 26 year old male, USA citizen.

I was told I need to provide a copy of proof of employment in the USA, but I'm not sure what document would suffice. Do they want to see tax forms (W-2), pay stubs, or a letter from my previous employer stating I did indeed work for them?

Thanks for your help!

From my experience with Thai Consulates in the US, they all seem to have different rules. I would advise you to call and email them about your situation. They have eventually given me the answers to satisfy their requirements. Good luck...

Proof of employment would be that you have a job, so I would get a letter from my current employer. My understanding and experience.

sdchargerfan, it depends on the purpose of your trip to Thailand. What is it? This will decide what type of visa you need and what documents you need to supply.

Please also mention at what consulate in the USA you are applying, as not all ask for the same things.

By the way, I have found the Los Angeles Thai Consulate the worst to deal with. As your user name is Sdchargerfan, I'm guessing you are from California. I used to use the Portland Oregon Consulate as they were very friendly and helpful, but last year I saw they could not issue certain visas. The Thai Embassy in Washington seems to require less paperwork than the LA Consulate for the same visa. No notaries are required at the Embassy, but they are at the LA consulate.

Thanks for the responses!

I have been offered a job in Bangkok and I'm in the first stages of getting work permit and visa. I currently live in Southern California and will likely be applying at the Thai Consulate in LA.

I need to provide "Proof of Employment" but I really have no idea what qualifies as "proof."

the subsidiary or company (sponsor) in Thailand who you are going to work for needs to submit their business documents such as income, taxes, etc. to support your

B application. This is what happened to me when I transferred to Thailand on a secondment assignment for 3 years.

( I was told by the Thai consulate in US for this procedure, but I have heard there are other Thai Consulates that are more lenient to this matter)

you should first check with your sponsorship HR department in Thailand to better assist you with the updated regulations.

good luck.
