18km cycling, five times a week, for cardiovascular....

weightlifting in rotation with cycling (not at same time).

Muay Thai and stay with spirits instead of beer

That can be a dangerous combination!

I'm ashamed to admit that the act of breathing is obout all the exercise I get. But, I am looking for a VERY GOOD quality bicycle as I do some riding back in Aus.

Quality bike shop in Udon? Not the crap sold in Tesco and the like.

I'm in the worst shape ever since I've moved here more than a year ago. I haven't done any exercise at all, smoke more than ever and have gained about 15 kilos.

I know that this makes me a perfect candidate for health problems. First thing on the list is to quit smoking, then exercise, the weight will come off with the exercise. I used to bike to work year round in Canada, even in winter snowstorms. We've bought a stair climbing exerciser but I won't touch it until I've quit smoking for a while and started walking a bit.

Now, where's my LM kheows?

I've rediscovered my legs ...

apparently they can do more than just hold your body up, they can get you to places ... :o

I have never understood this one, why buy a super, dooper, sporty bike to get fit on? Surley a cheap badly made bike will take far more effort to use and there fore get you much fitter faster? If you need a bike for transport then yes a good bike is a good idea but for fitness get an old sh1t heap and strugle with it, guaranteed to lose the weight. Just my view, as i really dont understand why getting that low effort bike helps you?

I bought a bicycle from the local town... it cost me bt2300...

It was blue, had five gears .... and the best bit... a seat above the back wheel.. :o

So.. whenever me and the missus had to go anywhere in the village, i'd ride around with her sat on the back... fantastic way to exercise... even gave the locals something to smile about also... :D

totster :D

Ever had your balls wrapped around the handle bar yoke because the elcheapo frame collapsed? Not a pleasent experience. I don't want 21 gears and suspensions etc. JUST QUALITY.

Ooooh, no i have not but if i had i may well take your point. :o I wasn't actually suggesting you bought a cheapy i have just often thought that having a bike that is hard work would actually help the fitness aspect more. Of course spearing your <deleted> upon the thing is something i would not consider healthy or fit. :D

HA ha :o Good point.

I go jogging in the morning and can run quite far now. I ruin it when I stop and eat then light up my first. On the whole, I feel quite fit, the golf, swimming helps too.

I run 6 or 7 mornings about 8K. When I'm done I do some weight training with hand weights and an Ab-Slide.

I have a cheapie LA-Bicycle bike that I ride three or four times a week; usually 10 to 15K each time. The frame is way too small for me, so I do get a better workout than I would on a bike that was the proper size.

On the days that I don't bike I try to get a good walk in.

That note about the collapsing bike made me wince. I had a mountain biking holiday in the Australian Alps a few years ago. I pitched forward when I was going downhill. I later found out from the doc that I had bashed a semen tube. My banana and tomatoes went black and my tomatoes swelled up to the stage that I had to adopt a John Wayne style walk.

I run 10K per day in the UK. I willbe in BKK for a month before going on to Khao Yai for a new job. Where is the best park to run in BKK?

Never exercise when I'm in LOS on hols, apart from a few lengths up and down the pool.

Back in the UK, gym three times a week plus football and running. Too hot to exercise properly in Thailand

Generally I do a lot more walking in LOS than here in Oz......I make it a point to go for a brisk walk along the beach everyday when in Pattaya.....just to get the blood moving.

I have found also that by walking around, I did this in Saigon, KL and Phnom Penh, is that you see a lot more things than by taking taxis everywhere... if you see something that catches your eye then you can stop and check it out. you also meet a lot more people this way.

I love to walk, but sometimes I wonder if it does more harm (bec. of pollution) than good since I walk around Sukhumvit area.

I also used to do Pilates, but my teacher left LOS. Anyone knows a good pilates school/teacher?
