Step right up to book a concert with the recently arrested Russian Pedophile! Let me book my ticket now... Not. This will seriously damage his career. If he didn't do it, he'll come back and stand for his trial. If he did it, he won't be back.

Another who prejudges before knowing anything other than what you see in the media. If he does return, will you step right up and book that ticket?

Perhaps. But I still wouldn't be at all surprised if the charges are simply dropped based on lack of evidence.

Because boys cannot get pregnant.

So no DNA trace left.

Uh, trolling?

Most rape-cases involving DNA has nothing to do with the victim being pregnant...

I recon this guy has been setup. I have had three or four Thai police want to 'help and get to know me'. We warned, they are not after your friendship, they are looking for an opportunity to fleece you. A bit like the motoring offence but on a bigger scale with the backing of the Thai legal system. Once you are convicted by the legal system (whether you were correctly convicted is irrelevant), it does not matter; now you are a criminal. Once that happens there is not much chance of rewinding things.

My tip: remain a tourist, don't tell anyone you have any money, don't throw your money around buying property, etc. Enjoy your time here but don't commit to anything. Leave when any trouble starts brewing.

Because i have never met a musician who is gay.

Especially a Russian one.

It is, in the South of Thailand.

But not in Pattaya, fortunately for him.

But if the boy had gone to the police immediately after the alleged rape instead of waiting many weeks, there could well have been DNA samples the forensic people could have picked up - if the allegation is true, of course. Ever wonder why the boy didn't report it until many weeks later?

Makes no difference if he is gay or not.

He was rich, and obviously so, his neighbor / house guardian was running boys and got caught,

what better secondary target than the rich, (incidentally) gay, high profile, conductor to shake down,

or take down to lessen his own fall. Make the BIB some cash from his assets

and they might not be as hard on the chicken hawk pimp.

Certainly a plausible scenario.

They should examine the boy for signs of the alleged crime. 14 is young and there is a good chance the truth could be obtained medically. Its common for female rape victims and although i am sure it would be traumatizing for the boy it might be the only way of finding a definitive answer.

I'll bet there more than a few men on thaivisa who have indulged in sex with young boys and/or young girls. It disgusts me but I think there will be no solution to the problem without understand why they do it. Anyone brave enough to shed some light on the motivation?

Of course you are correct - but only if he had gone to the authorities immediately after the alleged rape occurred. The fact is that the 2nd incidence took place in February and he went to the police in April. As I said earlier, how come he waited so long? animatic is probably right in suggesting in his post "because he hadn't been told to yet.... " Remember also, this same boy had been raped at least 20 times by the owner of the internet cafe. That has been admitted. I think there is also a fair chance that he had been offered out to members of the pedophile ring. I therefore doubt any examination in April would have yielded any shred of evidence of the alleged offence by the Russian musician.

This case is likely to be in the media again soon. I seem to recall the next Court appearance will be early next week. So we'll soon know if I'm right in my suggestion that Mr Pletnev will definitely return. We'll then know which charity is going to benefit from the wagers I've made - and who will have to pay up ohmy.gif
