Need Travel Times And Advice Needed For Wedding Bus Trip To Thailand

so next april i am doing the whole traditional thai wedding to my issan man.

To make it exciting for all our ferang family and friends who want to come i am organising a bus tour around issan for about 10 days so its like a holiday for everyone at the same time. Since we both now work and live in Australia im finding it very difficult to try to organise from over here... His family is very poor from a small village in Sisaket and are not sure on alot of the details...

So if anyone could help me with some of these details it would be very much appreciated:)

travel times: (we will have a private vip bus that we pay by the day to take us where we want to go etc.) Also we will be traveling around SONGRAAN time... leaving bangkok on the 6th april eventually arriving at ubon for the 10th and then heading back to Bangkok for the 15th (i know the trip back to Bangkok shouldn't be too busy cause everyone usually stays home for the entire 3 days of songraan which is why i made it so we are getting back to bkk on the 15th)

Bangkok to Pak Chong,

Pak chong to Pii Mai,

Pii Mai to Khon Kaen,

Khon Kaen to the dam, the dam to the cobra village, the cobra village to Nong Khai,

Nong Khai to somewhere half way between Nong Khai and Ubon, (somewhere nice to stay)

Ubon to Surin, Surin to Korat.

Also anything worth seeing along the way, or at those places.. anything different that i may not have seen on the usual internet sites etc..

and anything you would recommend doing that is very "Thai" ... we are making it a trip so all our family and friends see the real thailand, so we will be showing them how the people in his village live, the markets, and the mor lum shows, muay thai in rural villages, eating strange things, how to len songraan, thai karaoke etc etc..

some other things...the winery at saraburi... is it like a normal winery??is there wine tasting etc and how much are the wines to buy ( i'm thinking the elderly people in my family wont be ok with drinking sangsom and chang and our wedding and not sure if its worth the stop on the way to pak chong or i buy wine from somewhere else seperately)

at Kao yai national park would like to do a half day trek.. but i think not everyone in the group will want to do that. at the start of the national park is there a rest area that the people with kids could maybe do some swimming and have a drink and relax and do some small walking while the other people can go do a walk??

does anyone know the times of the cobra village shows in khon kaen?

at ubonrat dam in khon kaen is there small boats for hire to go fishing or something? am thinking of taking people fising then taking the fish to a restaurant for them to cook it up for lunch

thanx for all your help!!! any posts would be much appreciated:)

G'day, I'm an Aussie living in Mukdahan for many years now. I think your idea would suit most Aussies but you don't want to much of the same thing and food could become a problem in some areas. In Mukdahan the Mekong river is at it's widest over it's entire length, similar to Sydney Harbour in width, far more attractive than at N K and you have the bridge across to Laos- Savannakhett also which for Aussies is great as we have the big Savan-Vegas Casino and many great restaurants with the French influence. In Mukdahan there are many good hotels to choose from and good restaurants on the river especially my Mukdahan Manor with The Waterfront Restaurant where Aussies can eat every thing from Meat pies to Lamb Chops. You can check this out on this forum, New Restaurant in Mukdahan for Foreigners, Lots of photo's and the menu. There are tourist attractions like the Shrine of the 7 Martyrs, a huge catholic church built on the rivers edge, a change to looking at Temples. You can cut across from Khon Kaene or Udon to Mukdahan then onto Ubon if you wish and then back towards Bangkok. If this idea helps you and you want more Info or hotel prices Mukdahan and Savannakhett- Laos feel free to contact me. All The Best, Don. Hunter.
