As I type this the British Embassy in Bangkok is closed and will not be open till Tuesday !! (Public Holiday on Monday)...............so any feedback/help here is much much appreciated. I am living in Thailand.

My passport has only 2 pages left. I have to go to leave the country next Thursday (29th) to go to work and have been told by employers that I need 5-6 pages left on my passport for

a series of stamps etc....... BIG PROBLEM !!sad.gif Applying to Hong Kong will be too late and not an option. I just rang Passport authorities in England and asked them my options ?????

I cannot get extra pages put on/into my existing passport.....BUT.....I have been told I can get an EMERGENCY TRAVELLING DOCUMENT !!!! This apparently will have all my personal data on

there and is in affect an abridged Passport, according to them, albeit it with a different number to my regular passport.

Has anyone ever applied for an British EMERGENCY TRAVELLING DOCUMENT in Bangkok or know anything about the process ?????

The staff from England told me on the phone that this service is available on a "same-day-basis", and if I go down to Bangkok on Tuesday I SHOULD be able to get it on the same day !!!!

I hope so,but it is very frustrating that I cannot probably find anything out about this till they open the Embassy doors in Bangkok on Tuesday morning.....I'm going crazy thinking about it.

So if anyone has anything to say on the matter I'm all ears, cheers !!

Are you sure they'll be open on Tuesday?

That's the answer from the British Embassies Bangkok answering service....................open again at 8AM on Tuesday the 27th!!!!!!

AFAIK such a document is for those without passport and only allows emergency travel to home country.

I am happy to be able to confirm that this is not the case. The Emergency Travel Document will be valid for 9 months and can be used as per the regular passport.....that is the low-down form the British

consulate. The British Embassy is not open till Tuesday morning,so I will not know unequivocally until then I suppose. When telephoning the British Embassy in Bangkok the answering service gave an

Emergency/24hr contact service-number for people to ring,(I rang it).. and they have assured me that this is the case............Thank goodness. I have no reason to not believe them, and even phoned on 2 seperate

occasions and got the same feedback !! :-)) I'm still a bit nervous though and won't be a complete happy-camper till I can confirm this in person on Tuesday !!!
