For the last few years we have had to make 2 payments to get Auto Insurance.

Half up front and half a month or so later.

This year my wife tells me they all want it all up front.

Does anyone have insurance where they can pay monthly as we do in the West

OR

pay quarterly ?

Would appreciate hearing your experiences

Thanks

Unfortunately the law is now "payment before cover" and unless you have paid all the premium you are not insured. However should you need to spread the payments we suggest you pay by CC then repay as you wish.

Where might I find ratings for the many insurance

companies out there.

I would guess The OIC would have a list of firms with

complaints and possibly 'not recommended' status.

Any other source to be sure one does not pick a

bad company ?

Thanks again

I doubt if the OIC would offer up that sort of information. The best way is to find a Broker you can work with as they are in the 'front line' when it comes to dealing with the insurance companies.

As a suggestion, for a Thai Visa member, you could try the Thai Visa Brokers B)

Your statement is not entirely true.

You still can pay by MONTHLY payment.

Ms. J. just did that last week with one of the giant insurance companies in Thailand.

Yes, it is still possible to pay for your auto insurance by monthly installment.

But I should not and would not imprint the name of that insurance company here with all due respect to those companies paying their fair shares to support Thaivisa. And this insurance company is not a part of TV system.

Just have your dearest calling around and if you are still unable to find one, you can pm me. Good luck and good fortune. Cheers.

My car is insured with AXA (first year, free insurance from dealer) and I was called up by an AXA rep offering monthly payments on next-years policy. Hilariously the rep was a ladyboy, but that's beside the issue. He/she offered a 30% discount and payments over five months. However, the premium had swelled, before discount, by 35%. Given that the car was a year older and should have had a NCB, I think I'll use a broker to get new insurance which my current policy expires.

Interesting and if you care to PM me the name/details of whoever called you I will ask AXA to deal with them. The reason I say that is because you were not called by someone from AXA but by some rogue agent who is trying to pass themselves off as an AXA representative.
