Anyone can advise me step by step how to apply for ONE year or it called marriage visa? I'm married to a Thai and do not have business in Thailand. How am I suppose to apply for a multiple entry visa for ONE year.

I'd just went to the immigration for a 7 days extension but was told that I need to show a 800000 Bht for 2 months in my Thai bank account in order to apply for it. I scroll the forum here, some said that it needs only 400000 Bht. So can anyone advise? Thank you for reading.:D

Where are you from? You only need 400k or 40k/month for the extensions. Depending where you come from and thus where you apply, you could do as little as sign a declaration that you can afford to live here right up to showing the amount I just stated in a bank account. So important you let us know this.

Steps: In your country, apply for a 1 year non-immigrant 'O' visa on reason of marriage to a Thai - send your marriage cert, passport, application form, fee and any other supporting documents (like kids birth certs) - copies possibly OK (depends on where you come from bla bla bla). Get visa - get ticket (one way is fine) - get stamped in at airport. Every 90 days either report and show you have said money/income or do a visa run. Next year either go home and get another Visa or apply for extension (with money/income). Proof of income can be got from your Embassy here with whatever proof they require (depending where you come from....) and a fee - or tax receipts and bank book if you have a WP and a job here. Its actually quite easy.

PS: 800k is for retirement (OA) if not married to a Thai - with marriage to a Thai, it gets halved.

"Every 90 days either report and show you have said money/income or do a visa run."

A bit confusing because it appears you've combined two things.

"PS: 800k is for retirement (OA) if not married to a Thai - with marriage to a Thai, it gets halved."

OR, if not married to a Thai it gets doubled.

For a one year extension based on being married to a Thai, you'll need either 400k in a Thai bank for a couple of months, or proof of income of 40k a month. Your income only. Your name on the bank account, not your spouses.

For retirement you do not need an OA visa. A Non Imm O works just fine.

The money requirements are either 800k in a Thai bank for a couple of months or an income of 65k a month.

Immigration will want a letter from the bank, is using that method.

They will want a letter from your embassy for the income. if from abroad. If working, and the income is local, they'll want to see tax returns.

A single entry O visa is all you'll need if the money portion is in place. You can get that at a Thai Embassy or Consulate. If already in Thailand, most people use Laos or Malaysia. If you are still in your home country you can get a visa there.

If the money is not in place, and you can get a multiple entry O visa, it will be good for one year but will require a visa run every 90 days. You can get a years extension at immigration during the last 30 days of any permission to stay.

When you figure out which option is best for you, return and get specific document requirements.

Hopefully one of the experts will post here in easier to understand language.

Good luck.

Erm quite - only he didn't ask about retirement Visa, he asked about a marriage visa. He was just confused about the amount, hence my PS. I am sure with all that extra non-relevant info you made it much clearer for him. I am also sure he appreciates you explaining that if one fee is double another, then the second fee is also half the first. However, I will think you will find the immigration documents on the subject state that marriage to a Thai reduces the requirement by half, not the other way around.

He wants a multi - he said so - so telling him to get a single is stupid as he could loose his one year when he leaves the country.

He asked for simple steps, I gave him simple steps. I have had a chat with him over PM and I believe he knows what is required.

Shhesh - always people here that try and stomp on any one else trying to help - if they can contribute, do so; if they help not an iota and just p!ss off the people that do try, I wish they'd all just take a long walk on a short pier.

For a 12 month extension from Immigration. 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank or 40,000 Baht monthly income.

For a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa it would depend at what Thai Consulate you apply. Some require 100,000 Baht in the bank . Some will issue with just proof of marriage.

1. There is no such visa as "marriage".

2. Thai wife extension of stay for one year requires 400k in bank account 2 months or 40k per month income.

3. Suspect OP is age 50 or more if provided a 800k figure as that is for retirement extension of stay. And it is the same 800k regardless of marriage or not. But some Consulates will use that figure as a local requirement to issue below visa.

4. The multi entry non immigrant O visa (which can be issued to someone married to a Thai) only allows a 90 day stay without exit so most Consulates will rather issue single entry and have you extend per 2 above when in Thailand.

5. The most reliable local place for multi entry visa is KL and they require to see 100k in your bank account (plus marriage proof).

W, a little uppity, don't you think?

When persons ask questions like the OP did, it's because they don't know the answer, or maybe know the answer, but don't like it.

I've found that they often don't know about other options available to them. Sometimes, with choices available, they might make decisions that otherwise they didn't know about.

I'm sure you had a nice chat with him. That's very helpful for others interested in the subject.

Sorry you felt like your ego was stomped on. I wouldn't have posted if I didn't think part of your post was confusing or misleading.

The OP has info he needs, so, over and out.
