Lightnin' Hopkins - Santa [1964]

Well now, can't be sure about the other posters yet but at least I now can be sure you're not an atheist, DB.  Maybe you don't believe in God but at least you believe in Santa!

BTW, just noticed a Christmas song thread pop up.  Only get to listen to this stuff once a year so I'll make the most of it.

John Lee Hooker bluesy Christmas.

A Canned Heat Christmas with Dr. John on piano.  Sounds like a nice gift.

OMG, Eric Clapton cryin' Christmas tears!

Awesome Christmas blues from Joe Bonamassa.  Never heard of this white guy (b. 1977) but he's definitely got lots of talent.

B.B. King's got some Christmas greetings, too.

I was sat in Sid's a week ago suffering all-knows-god-what awful American secular Christmas songs

Ï can't stand four weeks of this; can you not just play Slade for a month?"

Apparently not, so they've asked me to sit outside, as apparently the sobbing disturbs other customers.

And so does that other King, Albert.

Sonny Boy Williamson Christmas blues from 1951.

A wonderful Christmas blues tune from Leon in '72.

From the great lyricist John Prine, Christmas In Prison.

And a John Prine bonus track.

My apologies - I accidentally stumbled across this.

Fay Fife - does your daughter know?

Don't get me started on my trip to Kinghorn, back in the day.  My accent marked me out as a stranger.

"Are you Fay Fife?"

"'Course I'm not"

Well, luckily I've got quick reactions, and I was half-way down the street by the time they'd finished their pints and whisky chasers, and the doorman saved me:

"Sorry, lads, if you chase him you'll have to pay ten shillings to come back in".

Lucky I've got quick reactions, and the quaint and archaic drinking laws that prevailed in the Kingdom of a Sunday in those days

Old time Christmas blues.

A very nice Elvis Christmas blues duet with Gretchen Wilson.

Lightnin' Hopkins Heavy Snow with nice reverb.

Another King . . . Freddie King . . . from 1961.

The 1960 classic from Charles Brown.

That one was so good Charles deserves another post.

Etta James' version from 1998.

Call me Scrooge, but I'm counting down the days till Boxing Day.

Koko Taylor beltin' out Merry, Merry Christmas as only Koko can.
