A family member has died and have to fly to europe... now i have a 1 year extension on my marriage visa and normaly i could get a re-entry permit but i have been told(today by a tourist aid at the immigration office) that you can only get it one day before your departure date... ( iwas there for a 90 day report)

the problem is that i have heard that the immigration offices will be closed for thursday and friday and offcourse saturday and sunday.... this means that i will have to wait untill monday to get the paperwork and fly on monday or tuesday and by then it will be too late

now i havent booked a ticket yet..

is there any way arround this.. can i get a re-entry permit at the bangkok airport maybe? or does it mean if i want to be there on time for the funeral that i lose my visa?

You cannot get one at the airport.

Quiet honestly as you have an illegal extension this will be doing you a favour.

Just leave and sort out another Visa for your return.

thanx for your advice but this is already sorted out.. my visa comes straight from the bangkok immigration and me and a bunch of other people got the same extension and have all reported multiple times for 90 days(like i said i went today) so i know its not the ''legal'' way but I am now confident enough to keep it untill expiration... i have even spoke to the contact at immigration who did this for me

its amazing what money can do in this country

so not seeking advise about that...

OT

so if someone has to leave Thailand asap for example in the weekends or holidays because of a emergency like i have now, this means automaticly you will lose your visa?

that would really suck

You can obtain a re-entry permit at any time.

It is always advisable to get at least a single re-entry (1000 Baht) when you get your extension.

Re-entry is apparently still available at the airport in a dire emergency so if you can't get one beforehand it's worth asking. Otherwise, sadly, you wave goodbye to your extension.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I think usually Suan Pluh issues re-entries on Saturdays but don't know about this weekend due to holidays.

There have been reports that you can get one at the airport in case of emergency situations but no idea what is needed as evidence in such a case.

I think you were given bad info by the 'tourist aid'.

You can buy a re-entry permit at any time, with no obligation to use it.

Because of some of the changes in the last couple of years, many are getting one when they get a new extension, even with no plans on leaving the country. They/We do that just for the situation you find yourself in.

You MIGHT get it at the airport, on proof of death of the family memebr. But that is in no way sure. It might otherwise be possible to get a re-entry permit on Saturday morning, as the old office immigraiton office at Suan Plu.

As Light Beer said, this would be a good oportunity to leave and become legit when you return. I would seriously consider this.

It is not sorted as you do not even have a Thai Wife.

This is wandering into illegal activity.
