Hi all.

Just wondering when the best time would be to do a TESOL?

I guess it would be just before the start of the school term.

Some dates would be grateful.

Some of us are sticklers for detail in this line of work. TESOL is available in an English-speaking country. You probably mean a TEFL course.

If you're going to do it in Thailand, I suggest again that you come in February or March and finish by mid or late April. Many schools are hiring then, more than at any time.

PB you're confusing TESOL with TESL. TESOL covers BOTH TESL and TEFL courses (i.e. a TEFL and TESL are both TESOL courses).

Although I do remember one teacher telling me his TEFL stood for teaching English in a foreign land :o

Instead of pedantically going on about the differences between TESOL?TESL/TEFOL etc etc .. blah blah blah .. (yawn) ... why don't you just answer the poor guys question?

At least ONE of you did.

The nit picking pedantic attitude of some of the prima donnas in this forum make my day ... keep up the good work.

I Would have replied sooner but my posting rights were suspended for pointing out a few home truths. Wow! they're a insecure lot in here! :o

Well here goes .. I'll bring myself temporarily down to the pedantic level which is the norm in this forum .. maybe then I'll be accepted somewhat until my "Post Count" (note the capital letters .. it seems to be revered around here for some reason) passes the 500 mark.

Google search "TEFOL" .. over 2000 results. "Teach English as a Foreign or OTHER Language"

One quick excerpt from the hundreds of places offering "TEFOL" courses.

* What’s the difference between TESOL, TESL, TEFL, TEFOL?

Basically, all these acronyms are various ways of identifying “Teaching English as a Second Language.” Teaching English as a Foreign /Other Language (TEFL or TEFOL) can identify a program designed to teach a group of students using another base language besides English as in some European schools. The program at Front Range has English as a base language and the students are speakers of other languages so we have chosen to identify ourselves as TESL “Teaching English as a Second Language.”

OK "Mate"

Banned but not forgotten .. Well I.ve been banned 3 times now .. lets see if I can get it up to 15000.

Anyone can write 15000 nit picking posts .. but to be banned 15000 times for taking the micky out of the insecure tossers in here .. now THATS an achievement!!

My apologies you were correct chap.

Still not often used though. And also it doesn't really make sense as you can only really learn it as a foreign or second language....what 'other' ways are there to?

And I don't mind being pulled up to criticised, but to not do so constructively is going to get you banned.

But yeah I have been known to nitpick :o Soz!
