For those of you whom might find it more convienent to get a notorial done at an embassy outside of Thailand don;t do it. Thai Immi says all notorial must be from the Embassy located in Thailand! an additionl issue is that the forms used in Embassys are approved by Thailand Immi. the generic of local orms from other embassys aere probably not correct. The most common one is the the statement of income notorial... Different forms in Singapore and KL. Neither of which look like the one from the U.S. Embassy in BKK.... Welcome to TIT and have a nice day!

Several years ago the US Embassy in Laos told me the same. I had asked if they could give me a certified letter of income. They told me they could give me a letter, but it would not be accepted in Thailand.

Me thinks its not just the simple form thats important but the consular officers name and signature. I would be guessing but I bet Thai Immigration has a list of the current officers that have signing authority and a sample of their signatures to authenticate a form if needed.

The Thai ministry of foreign affairs has a list of all the signatures, stamps. etc of all foreign consular workers in Thailand, so they can check the authenticity of a document. That is why you can't use an embassy in another country, (except when there is no embassy in Thailand and that embassy also covers Thailand). A form from another embassy can simply not be checked and is therefor not accepted.

Not sure if immigration also has these signatures, but immigration doesn't seem to check the signatures etc.
