I remember reading on here a good while back that it wasn't possible to use the online visa tracking. Another useful feature by UK VAC. Guess it sounded to them like a good idea but they didn't build the program correctly.

I thought it would be worth asking the question again as that was some time ago.

Anyhow, I tried it again with various numbers - the application reference texted to my wife and also the application number on the application form (which is a completely different number). I've tried various combinations with and without the alphabetical prefixes but alas no good.

Can somebody please confirm if it's possible to use this tracking tool and if so what format should be entered in order to check the status.

Many thanks

It used to work last year, although it's not what you might expect, all you get is a message saying 'your visa application has been forwarded to the Embassy' and it stays like that until you get a second message saying 'your passport is available for collection'. No other updates.

Last year a friend of mine was trying to check his wife's visa status and couldn't even get those messages. He'd googled the 'visa tracking' web page and somehow ended up on the British Embassy tracking page.........in Russia. It's the first one to come up on google and an easy mistake to

make, so make sure you're going to the VFS Thailand site.

You just need your wife's application reference number from her VFS receipt and her D.O.B.

Yep that's the one I used but doesn't appear to work. Still if what you say is all that it's going to tell me then it's not worth tracking as she's already sent it in ages ago, and the next change of status will be ready to pick up. Was kind of hoping their would be other stages in between that you could check progress on.

What doesn't work, accessing the web page or getting the actual update after entering your details?

Again, unless things have changed, you should have a reference number that looks like this:

APET/******/******/*

The first six digits refer to the date of your application, the second six is a sequential count of all types of visa applications made while the last digit is the number of people in the application (eg: 1 for a wife, 2-3 etc for the child(ren)). When you enter the number it is case sensitive.

I've just tried it using a random set of numbers and got a reply back 'Invalid Search' so the system's working to the point that it recognizes the information I entered.

That's exactly what I did in the above format. Can't see how the systems's working as if you put the correct info in as you mention (which I did) or any old rubbish and it still comes up with the same thing 'Invalid Search' - hence I don't think it's working.

Stament where did you get the link for the tracking web page? I think you might be going to the wrong one, as each Embassy has it's own tracking page and they're not interchangeable. Go to the VFS Thailand home page then click on the 'Track your application' link on the left hand side.

I was having trouble getting information on my girlfriends application for a tourist visa to the UK, until today when i got a message saying your application has been sent to VFS for collection, does this mean she's got the visa or that its been declined and that we have to re-submit it.

Has anyone got any advice on what this message means.

She's gonna pop into VFS in Bangkok later today so i should find out later anyway, i'll let you all know what happens.

Wish me luck.............

Good Luck !!!

It just means it's ready for collection, nothing more.

You wont find out the result until your girlfriend opens the envelope.

Again with the good luck!!

Thanks TiggerFish

This is our first application and its only been 10 days since we submitted the forms, the lady at VFS checked out our supporting documentation and said everything looks good, so you should have no problem.

I hope she was right.

I did exactly that and have done so again using the correct format and DOB. It's still says invalid search. I wouldn't put it past the clowns to have entered the wrong DOB or something.

Nevermind, it's not going to tell me anything anyhow so I'll just have to wait.

It is a pretty pointless tool as it does nothing to indicate the progress of your application.

Correct,a waste of time looking.

My girlfriend got a message off the VFS to come and collect her application yesterday, all indcations was that they had rejected the visa, they gave her a sealed envelope and said nothing more, when she opened it she could'nt belive her eyes a nice new shiney 6 month visa in her passport.

The whole visa process took 7 days from sending the application in to receiving the visa and that was with no interview, which i was told she would definitely have.

Let the good time's roll just need to get her a cheap flight now, which is proving harded than the visa.

Best of luck to all you guys out there still waiting for a decision on your application.

Just wanted to say thanks to this forum for all the advice i have received.
