I have to go to the immigration office in BKK tomorrow to get the extra 30 days I am entitled to following the 60 days which is about to expire(tourist visa). I have heard this can be a stressful experience and was wanting some advice. Does anyone know what time it opens in the morning and what documents / photocopies I need so that I am prepared. If I arrive as soon as it opens approx how long do you think I will be there??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Don't panic. This is very standard (if you haven't overstayed). You will need standard size passport photos, photocopy of first page, the last relevant stamps in you passport. Finally a copy of the "TM paper/arrival card" that is attached to your passport.

When you are there you will fill in a simple form and sign your photocopies.

It's hard to say how long it will take but if you are there before it opens I would say less than 1 hour.

I've done extensions that have taken me 2 hours as well as extensions that have been sub 10 minutes(including queue time).

Feel free to correct me if I have forgotten anything.

PS Officially you're not "entitled" to a 30 days extension, it's up to the immigration officer. DS

thanks alot that's a great help and yes, after I hit send or post, I realized 'entitled' was incorrect.

can't find a map to the place though, or opening times? Have been told to take BTS to MO Chit then a cab ( coming from Phrom Pong)

Once again thanks for your help
