sawatdee7
Hello everyone. Let me preface by thanking everyone here at Thaivisa.com, a veritable cornucopia of information. I am a 47 year old American who lives 6 months out of the year in beautiful Pattaya/Jomtien. Within the next year, I plan on making Thailand my home. My qualifications are as follows: Bachelor's Degree in English-Education, secondary-education teaching certificate. Four years teaching experience (one year in private school and 3 years public school). Master's Degree in Educational Media, secondary-education teaching certificate (Video and Film Production, Educational Media Specialist). Ten years experience in public vocational school. +30 credits in Mathematics, teaching certificate. No teaching experience in math. I would like to teach English in Thailand. 1. What type of English teaching positions would be available to me? What would be the basic salary? 2. Would it be necessary (or preferable) to take an additional course in Tesol or Toefl, etc. to get a better job? 3. Would the schools assist me in getting the one year non-immigrant visas and work permit? 4. I am presently living in my condo in Pattaya/Jomtien area; what teaching jobs are available here? I would also be willing to relocate to Bangkok or Chaing Mai as well. I love living in Thailand. It is a beautiful country. I hope to make Thailand my permanent Paradise. Thanks for any help you can provide. Khup Khun Krap! Edited July 11, 2005 by sawatdee7
chownah
Someone would have to write a novel to answer all your questions....and the answers to your questions can more or less be found here already.....read a bunch of the existing posts....learn to use the search function here....educate yourself a bit about teaching in Thailand and the possibilities......and then after doing this see if you have any questions. Thetyim
You strike me as being over qualified to teach here. The education system here can be very tedious at times and prevent you from doing things the way you want. Try it for a year before you settle here permanently.
