I have my annual retirement visa coming up, I have a Thai bank account that i know is acceptable with immigration, It is HSBC Bangkok, most of my money is in a UK Sterling account, I have a Thai Baht account also, I really don't want to transfer my sterling into 800,000 Baht as the exchange rate is very poor, I would just like to have the bare minimum of Thai Baht, in real terms i have more than 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank account but in sterling, would this be acceptable to immigration?

It has been accepted in the past from reports here (if the sterling account is at the Bangkok office) but you might want to ask immigration to be sure.

You have a retirement visa, have you got a pension? They will accept proof of income, plus (if necessary) cash in the bank. If you invome is 65,000 Bt per month you do not need money in the bank.

I do not have a pension, I rely on my savings account, but as i said it is in sterling and i just transfer it into Baht as i need it, I have over the required amount 800,000 Baht but it is in sterling and i transfer it into Baht as i need it,

I think that there is no definite yes or no answer to your question.

I recently raised a topic concerning a friend who when applying for his 1 year retirement extension was told by the immigration officer that he wanted to see all the required funds in a Thai baht savings account only.

Better, if possible, to check with them first. Good luck.
