Looking For Scandinavians In Krabi, Ao Nong, And Koh Lanta

Hi there!

I'm looking for some interesting Scandinavian people (Swedes, Danes, Norwegians, Finns) i Krabi, Ao Nang, and Koh Lanta. Or some place in the area around there.

I'm going down to the area today, and I'll stay there for around 6 days. I'm going to write some stuff for a Scandinavian magazine, so it has to have something to do with Scandinavia. I know some differet resorts, diving schools, climbing schools, and so on. But if there is anything else - like a women's group, someone is building his own house - you know. Something special. Don't hesitate to reply!

Thanks and best regards!

On Koh Lanta you will have the best luck on Long Beach or Phra Ae. There are numerous Swedish businesses there and if I have been informed correctly at least two Swedish schools. Lanta Diver in Saladan is also a Swedish operation and has been on the island for 10+ years. They might be the best place to start.

It is pretty difficult not to find a Scandinavian on Lanta. The fact that most of them are a foot or so taller than everyone else also helps.

Lanta Diver (Swedish) is one of the few dive schools that was open in August.

Raya Diver (Finnish) in Saladan might be opening soon too, or they may have some Finns freelancing at other schools.

Flip-Flop divers in Long Beach is Danish.

Time for Lime restaurant and cooking school is run by a Norwegian lady who also helps out with the Lanta Animal Welfare League, which has a new premises in the long beach area. They arrange fro vets to come over a few times a year from Soi Dog Foundation in Phuket (I think) and round up the strays to give them shots and the snip.

There is at least one Swedish school I know of.

There are a few Scandinavians in Old Town too, and Kantiang Bay area.

The Swedish Restaurant in Saladan is actually run by an old Thai guy that used to be a DJ (an is an interesting guy himself), but is frequented by Swedish tourists who can easily tell you where the rest of their countrymen are.

Look out for signs saying "we sell snuss" and just stop and ask where the Scandinavians are and the locals will happily point you in the right direction.
