I need 4 new staff, 2 cleaners and 1 cook and someone to work the restaurant.

I need them asap.

Any help would be much appreciated as I have just been told everybody is leaving tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.

Should add that I am located at the south end of Lamai beach.

If you are looking for Thai staff, What I normally do when I need staff is to put a sign up on the Lotus etc. notice board and you should get some inquiries.

Good luck. (I know how difficult it is to get good staff.....that want to work)

I employed a few Myanmar staff (with regular permission) and I can say I'm happy with them.

Sometimes they run away too, but they are far less touchy and conceited than the Thai counterpart. And more motivated too...

( I give the same salary both Burmas and Thais)

Ok, I can see I am going to have to give the full story here to satisfy peoples needs.

It all started with a beach seller that had fallen in love with one of my staff. He started hanging around the back of my restaurant and following her around to bungalows she was cleaning.

I asked him nicely a couple of times not to hang around, which he agreed to do so.........for a day.

The next day he was back getting drunk behind the restaurant so I not so polity told him to piss off and not come back, he went but came back 30 minutes later with a machete and threatened my wife and I. My wife ran and a friend of mine and I got ready to give the guy a hiding. He could see that he was not going to win this fight and left. This happened 2 months ago.

Meanwhile he still carried on seeing the aforementioned staff member away from the resort. Fine, no problem.

Yesterday, he rode in to the resort, I asked him politely to leave, he started to argue and tried to attack me, he was not very successful, he lost face in front of other beach sellers who saw what had happened.

He then makes a call to the staff member he likes, who happens to be the oldest sister of the ( Cambodian) family that works here, she is upset and tells the rest of the family to pack their bags.

Now, not all of them wanted to leave but they dear not defy big sister and have no choice but to leave.

In fact two of the girls were crying and my gardener/maintenance man said he and his little sister wife didn't want to leave.

And that, in a nut shell is the "story".

My last cook was getting 9000Baht.( she was very good)

Restaurant workers and cleaners/housemaids 5000Baht. they all live on site and had free food and accommodation.

if they are cambodian and u have their work papers then u can get them deported. Normally the boss of the company has to make the permits for people from burmer and cambodia. if they give u trouble tell where there bags are. long journey home !

I hope you managed to find your staff. Because it would seem at least from phuketall.com on the jobs forum for samui at least 20 - 25 hotels need staff and from other people I've been talking to samui has a few major downsides on getting staff due to

A. Bangkok or Phuket is more attract for thai people to want to go work at than samui.

B. Samui serious lack of affordable housing for thai people. If you say well they can live over in nathon or lamai or past that you need to consider how much of a pain it is for staff when you combine having to waste money for gas as well

C. Over amount of competition for staff. Major hotels pay service charge from a minimum of 3,000 up to 10,000 a month then plus salary

D. Shortage of labor supply ( if you put in for burmese or cambodian then that becomes a different issue then

As for getting staff at least from me and what i've tried
