Suspected Child Sex Ring Uncovered in Gay Porn Busts

PATTAYA: -- nvestigations into the dealings of several Thai websites have uncovered a suspected child prostitution ring operating in Thailand recently. Police discovered the illegal operations following the June arrest of an internet gaming business owner in Pattaya.

Thailand, the 6th of September 2010 [PDN]: Following the arrest of Mr. Traiphop Bunphasong, implicated in a Pattaya child prostitution racket, Children and Women Protection Center Police successfully uncovered a larger ‘parent’ operation, which had been running in Thailand for the last 10-years. Mr. Bunphasong’s arrest was directly related to the later arrest of famed Russian musician Mikhail Pletnev.

Initially, police investigating the case of Mr. Bunphasong linked the offender with several homosexual websites (poochai69.com and dekchai.com). The websites were found to be openly selling images, videos and DVD’s of explicit gay pornography including material believed to involve underage boys.

Sounds like a witch hunt. It's porn, for sure. However, there was no evidence presented about underage stuff, only speculation. I reckon (but don't know of course) that IF they had stronger evidence about the underage aspect of this than they mentioned (using vague language like "believed to be") they would have certainly presented that to the press. It is kind of odd that they publicized the websites though.

No doubt the websites are already blocked,

but this would give some clients time to cover tracks if they can.

Then again they may have the racket sowed up pretty much too.

Sad this whole episode if the child component is proved part of it.

I could care less who has safe sex with whom else,

or if someone wants to see them doing it during or later in video.

But involving children... that is not a line in the sand,

that is a big brick wall, that should fall on anyone doing

such dispicible conduct with children no matter the gender.

Agreed. However, I don't see that they have proven the underage part of it as yet, so best not to join the lynch mob quite yet. Can you imagine a conviction based on "believed to be?" Actually, I can imagine it, but that isn't right.

How in the world has this been able to continue for the 10 years?! All this censoring by the government on much less offensive websites as opposed to this?! Not one authority figure, police or government official got wind of this? And since the journalist has so graciously named the websites, I wonder if the government has already blocked the sites?

I for one will not check as I cringe at the very thought of it. I'd have to throw my keyboard away, cut my fingertips off, chug a gallon of Listerine, poke my eyeballs out, scrub my body with a brillo pad and Ajax just thinking about it. Yuck.

Another branding mishap for this poor country. Not good.

Most westerners think legal age porn, as well as sex toys, ED medications, etc. are totally OK, often good things. Yet these things are demonized and criminalized in Thailand. Hopefully, we all agree any underage stuff is wrong and justifiably illegal, but that is only part of this story, and it happens to be the part where hard evidence seems to be scarce, at least publicly.

They link the websites so everyone can visit them and very easily find out if they have any gay feelings. I am happy some days.

Initially, police investigating the case of Mr. Bunphasong linked the offender with several homosexual websites (poochai69.com and dekchai.com). The websites were found to be openly selling images, videos and DVD’s of explicit gay pornography including material believed to involve underage boys.

Poochai means man, but also boys. The meaning of Dekchai is little boys. Can't understand why they had to post the link.......

Dekchai means little boy. Why are you defending them??? Do you think it's a website for games???

Because I smell a witch hunt. I don't know yet whether they are guilty of the underage thing or not. I won't be surprised if they are but I can tell you it is common for 30 year old Thai men to call themselves "little boys" if they are of small stature, so I wouldn't read a mere name as enough to convict anybody. I don't like lynch mobs.

If you were on a jury or if you were a judge would you convict someone to hard time in prison because of a press report quoting a cop who "believed" some charge to be true? Good enough evidence for you? That's disturbing.

I feel so happy that my taxpayer baht is being so well spent to block myriads of websites, when internet cafes in pattaya can have sites up and running for donkey's years.

The logic of blocking the internet when you have entire city blocks of towns swathed in pink light visible from space has always been a bit lost on me. The ability for Thailand, to utterly miss the point of what it tries to achieve with government "moral" policy always astonishes.

Poochai69 is still there. :bah:

Indeed, the content was uploaded again...perhaps on a new server. I didn't look it up properly before, thought the police did the job...properly...

your IP address has been logged. Thanks you for visiting us and have a nice day.

Well, any website can be viewed, in most of its parts, on websites that keep record and save on the pages their server.

I did know nothing about those websites before reading this post, but looking at their homepage, there is a picture (cartoon style)

with 2 naked boys not older than 8 years. I'm not sure is convenient to attach the picture here. Anyway it looks very underage-oriented.

I can't explain your feelings. They are YOUR responsibility, not mine.

BTW, poster Iko's description of what he saw on that website is the first report here of any actual evidence about the underage aspect of the charge. If there were actual models matching the cartoons he saw, indeed it is looking very bad for the perps. I don't know anything about the law in Thailand if there were cartoons only though. Don't laugh at that because I think cartoon depictions of most anything (also computer generated animations) are legal in many countries, even if what they are depicting is illegal. I recall reading that such things are actually very popular in Japan. I bring up the cartoon legality issues for discussion purposes only as based on the report here it does indeed SOUND like there is probably evidence behind the "believed to" charges.

Read again. I don't pronounce myself on the case at hand, evidence is not presented in press articles but in courts. I was remarking upon your biased speculation of a 'witch hunt' which seems odd since you don't have the evidence.

Good point, which brings up the subject "Thai logic," which is another discussion altogether.

I am shocked. No Farangs involved and/or patronizing the ring? How can that be? Thai wisdom always asserts otherwise. Nevertheless, the palliatives "believed to be" are laughable. In criminal investigations and/or jurisprudence it either is or it is not. Remember: The law is reason without passion. Aristotle.
