How Long Can The Insurance Company Take To Repair My Car?

Recommended Posts

I was hit a couple weeks ago, and as it was the other guy's fault, his insurance company took my car and now it is in a repair shop. The damage is moderate.

I asked the repair shop, and they said it won't be finished until the end of this month-more than three more weeks. I saw the car, and they haven't even started on it.

Is there anything I can do to speed things up? Are there any regulations on how long the insurance company has to repair the car?

Your best bet is to talk to your Broker and ask him/her to intervene for you as they can 'hurry' things along by talking to both the repair shop and insurance company. We at Thai Visa often have to do this as the repair shops do tend to repair the 'cash' customers first to the detriment of the account (insurance companies) customers.

Some Thai insurance companies do provide loaner car free of charge to their insured.

Ask your company if yours does.

If not, before renewal of your policy, sign up with the company that does provide free loaner car.

I know because mine does.

Depends on which insurance company you have chosen. If you have a Toyota, and you have chosen a company with credit at Toyota, accepts Toyotas repairprices and new original parts to be used, its usually completed within a week.

If not, it may take years, and sometimes you have to pay yourself and later get a check from insurancecompany

I have tried both;)
