Hi all.

My wife will be applying for her UK Settlement Visa next month for herself and her son. Do they need to fill in two VAF4 application forms, because it's two visas?

Also, when my wife hands in all the supporting documents to the VFS staff, do they hand her back the original documents and just forward the copies onto the British Embassy?

Thanks again.

Yes you do need to fill in Two VAF4 One for each applicant And of course Two Fee's

You will get all the original documents back with the Visa's in the passports Hopefully

Thanks for your answers, but do the copies of the original documents get forwarded onto the British Embassy or do they receive the original supporting documents?

The reason why I'm asking this question is because I have clearly filed the original documents in a folder, and I don't want the VFS staff just send loose copies onto the Embassy.

VFS are no more than a portal to deliver your application to the Visa Section, so they will put everything in an envelope and pass on to the embassy, they certainly don't hold on to anything.

Being a belt and braces type of person I usually include a note asking for the originals to be returned by the UKBA, but they will anyway.

There are occasional reports of VFS trying to sort papers and saying that this or that is not required, if this happens, though it probably will not, your wife may need to insist that the application is forwarded in full.

Just to add that there is a note in the guidance to say that the embassy cannot guarantee returning original documents unless copies are also provided.

As I am also of the belt and braces persuasion, I provide the originals and copies. I have always had all originals returned.
