Molybdeum (Moly) Grease

Featured Replies

I am looking for high content, 60%, grease for my direct drive bike's rear end.

Honda calls for 60% MOLY Grease, and of course, while it is sold in the US and elsewhere by Honda, it is not sold here.

So, do you know where I might find this grease or where I might find MOLY (MoS2) powder so I can mix my own?

VELOIL makes a product called MOLY-SPECIAL, but it's only 2%. I have an email into them, but don't really expect an answer.

Thanks.....

You could try regular grease with half a cup of graphite powder mixed in. Graphite is a brilliant lubricant on it's own.

Just a little bit off topic.

Is there a special grease for battery connectors? Or can I take any grease?

Additional

Loctite Thailand has Loctite MolyPaste 65% Moly

Just a little bit off topic.

Yes there is. It's called dielectric grease.

Honda actually requires moly paste. If Loctite is selling it in Thailand then you are good to go. The reason they recommend paste not grease is because the grease tends to sling off of the final drive while the paste has more resilience.

Well that's interesting.

Would never have thought of that.

Thank you Samtran.

Which of the Vaselines would be the most suitable, in your highly estimated opinion?

New sheer infusion or Total moisture or Intensive rescue or Cocoa butter or Petroleum Jelly?

I found Dielectric grease In Phuket:

At GC Huat: From Permatex, 3grams =95 Baht (1kg=31'666 Baht)

At Bangkok hardware: From CRC, 94grams=799 Baht (1kg=8'500 Baht)

Thank you So much:jap:

Lots of people use normal Vaseline on Battery Terminals.

I'm sure I've seen Molygrease in my local Hardware shop. So I suspect available almost everywhere

I don't think the OP is looking for high-molybdenum grease for its battery terminals, it would be complitly the wrong application. As high +60% molybdenum grease transfers energy (including electric).

I can find 2 up to 10 % molygrease all around Thailand, but I would not use it for my my motorcycle shaftdrive, even mix it myself will be something I would do only at last resort...
