Forth-Year Student Shot Dead in Mahasarakham Province

A forth-year university student was shot dead while riding his motorcycle to his apartment in downtown Mahasarakham province.

Police from Mahasarakham police station together with officials from the forensic sciences division, inspected the body of 25-year-old Khunakorn Siangsai, who was shot on his right side.

Forensic scientists confirmed the bullets were from a .38-caliber pistol.

Khunakorn, a forth-year student at Rajabhat Mahasarakham University's Management Science faculty, was gunned down while he was riding his motorcycle to his apartment.

The crime took place at Soi Sri Sawat Damnoen 11 in the Mahasarakham municipality.

Investigators believe the attack was motivated by gambling debts or a love affair, as the victim's girlfriend is found to have been infatuated with many other guys before dating the victim.

The girl is far along in her pregnancy.

Buriram ready to handle flash floods

BURIRAM (NNT) -- Buriram Province has prepared measures to deal with more flash floods expected to hit the province shortly.

According to acting permanent secretary Damrongchai Neramittokpong, the province has asked the local administration to survey all areas that are prone to flash floods, so that appropriate measures can be taken to deal with the imminent flash-floods. The measures include having rescue workers and equipment on stand-by around-the-clock, ready to evacuate people and animals affected, Mr Damrongchai said.

Meanwhile, locals residing along the border prone to forest flood have been warned against forest flood given they live on the high mountain side .The permanent secretary has also advised that those living in the area pay close attention to the Meteorological Department’s weather report.

Khao Sok Park in Surat Thani closed until December

Surat Thani: -- The Surat Thani provincial administration Thursday announced the closure of its Khao Sok National Park until the middle of December following torrential rains.

The administration said heavy rains during the monsoon season would make it unsafe for tourists to visit the park so it would be closed until the monsoon season is over in the middle of December.

The park is famous for tourists who like trekking in forests.

The park has eight famous tourist spots, which are Nam Thalu Cave, Bats Cave, Siroo Cave, Tonekroy Waterfalls, Than Sawan Waterfalls, Tangnam Waterfalls, 11-layers Waterfalls and the trek way for watching lotuses.
