Hi all,

I will be travelling to Thailand in the next week or so, I will probally be staying 6 -12 months ( I have a paid leave of absence from work due a stress related illness so funds are not an issue). I have been mulling over the notion of a internet bride and have settled on Thailand as location , I was going to order one online and fly her over here to the states but my leave of absence from work gives me the opportunity to go stay a while in Thailand as this would enable us to get to know each other in surroundings that she would be comfortable in. Anyway my question is where do go for one of these ladies, is there agencies or outlets over there who specialise in this sort of thing. Is there a questionair that I would need to fill out as obviously! to be able to cook western food would be a plus but I guess I could send her to classes or something. Thanks in advance :o ps a friend of mine has recommended Pattaya.

Don't go to Pattaya my friend, as the women who go there turn into "bad girls". Will bring back your stress-related illness for sure. My internet bride now owns a restaurant and can teach these natives. Please PM me and I will be able to get you the best of the best, no need for internet, apart from maybe transferring my small cost.

In 6-12 months you should have no problem findinga thai bride without the internet, especially in Pattaya. However if you have a stress related illness a thai wife would not be medically recommended,try golf. :o

Sounds like your strees relatewd illness might actually do some good. Coming over here and getting to know your future partner is way better than 'ordering' one over the net. :o

      Uk passport only 3 months left

      Renewing the passport in UK is easy. I applied on line on the 1st May, sent off the old passport the next day. Received the new passport on the 6th May and the old passport the next day. Had the passport photos taken at a shop, given a code to use on the application. E mails from the passport office telling of progress of application. The price is going up soon.

      Advice needed: shipping boxes from Bangkok to Manila

      Hi everyone, I am going to move from Bangkok to Manila. This involves shipping 7-8 boxes of books. I haven't actually packed them yet, but I used SF Express to ship the boxes from China to Bangkok. The boxes are not large -- the SF Express boxes were about 14 inches wide, 14 inches high, 18 inches long -- but will be heavy. They don't have to get to the Philippines quickly -- I would be fine with a 4-6 weeks delivery time. I was wondering if there is a fairly inexpensive and reliable service? I have a Thai Post office near my apartment but I've heard they are expensive. I've noticed there's an SF Express in Bangkok and I will contact them for a price quote. I've also heard about Balikbayan boxes that overseas Filipinos use to ship things back home; perhaps I can use that service also. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions/experience. Thank you!

      Blaze Rages all Night at Bangkok Furniture Factory

A massive fire at a Bangkok furniture factory has yet to be brought under control, prompting city authorities to establish an emergency command centre near the scene amid fears the building could collapse. The blaze, which broke out on the evening of 11 May, engulfed the KING furniture factory (operated by Siam House & Home Co. Ltd.) located in Soi Chalong Krung 55, Lat Krabang district. The site is a two-storey facility with an elevated structure and a basement used for storing materials and finished products. Firefighters and rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation attempted to access the basement, where the fire is believed to have originated, but were forced back by extreme heat and thick smoke. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt assigned Surachit Phongsingwitaya, Chair of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, and Tharapong Phetkhong, Director of Lat Krabang District Office, to oversee the situation. A command centre has been set up at nearby Lampahong School to coordinate the response. Initial damage assessments have yet to be completed. Once the fire is under control, officials from Lat Krabang district and Chalong Krung police will investigate the cause and calculate the cost of the destruction. Mr Surachit confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far, as the fire broke out on a public holiday when the factory was unoccupied. He added that the facility contained a significant quantity of flammable materials, including plywood, plastic pellets, pallets and export-ready furniture, which likely fuelled the fire. “The fire seems to have started in the lower level, but the heat and smoke have made it impossible for teams to access the basement,” Surachit said. “Smoke continues to billow from the structure, and the temperature remains dangerously high.” Bangkok officials have deployed multiple appliances and LUF 60 remote-controlled fire-fighting vehicles to the scene. Firefighters are working to bring the situation under control, although Surachit warned that the dense stockpile of flammable materials in the basement is making the task especially difficult. “We are aiming to resolve the situation, but the risk of structural collapse is growing due to the intense heat trapped inside,” he added. Residents from several nearby housing estates have temporarily gathered outside their homes due to the thick, acrid smoke and radiating heat from the blaze, caused largely by the burning plastic materials stored within the factory, but have not needed to be evacuated yet.
