I'm wondering how the monorail would be supported while going overhead on Second Road.

Are the going to put big-ass pillars in the middle of the road, like the ones supporting BTS SkyTrain? If so, that'll make it an interesting one-way street.

Are they going to put the supports at the side of the road?

Or, what?

I haven't seen any design prototype photos.

Well they have to come up with new reasons to screw up the traffic flow with new construction work.

It would be interesting to see a plan of the proposed network even if, as anothertorres says, it will never get built in our lifetimes.

As for crossing the Sukhumwit it is perfectly technically feasible, just look at the KL Monorail.

It would be an asset though, even a simple single line from the bus station on north road alond second to Bali Hai pier area would be useful though it would make a mess of second road especially during construction.

The construction complaint is valid. Look at how long the road between South Pattaya and Jomtien (forgot the name) was/is underconstruction. Then there are the south bound lanes of lower Sukumvitt underconstruction for storm/drainage sewers (not exactly sure what they are doing there.)

I'd still like to see some reliable public transportation in Pattaya, with the Mocys/baht busses handling the last 100 meters (No self respecting Thai or expat actually walks here :D )

UPDATE

Protesters gather at Pattaya Monorail meeting at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort

On Monday Morning protesters turned out in force at a meeting held at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort relating to plans for a Pattaya Monorail Network. Inside the Peach Convention Center a meeting was held, chaired by Khun Suntorn, Permanent Secretary of Pattaya City and discussed the finer details of the monorail which appears to be going ahead as planned
