It's virtually impossible to get a job here other than English Teacher.

Anyway, you can try :

www.jobsdb.com

www.nationejobs.com

www.bangkokpostjobs.com

For Teaching related jobs go to www.ajarn.com

What is your specialisation??

How old are you??

What experience do you have??

Answer these simple questions and you will get more succinct answers.

That said, it is very difficult to get non-teaching jobs here unless you have the industry contacts and are in-country to network (in the pub of course). Yes that is the way, a VERY boozy night in Brown Sugar turned into a nice little consultancy earner.

I am member, actually Director, of the Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce, and we have a lot of networking. Maybe you should sign up to your national chamber of commerce and begin your networking as well. No need for bar networking.

I’m Portuguese and unfortunately there is no Portuguese-Thai Chamber of commerce. From the research I’ve made, there were 2 Portuguese companies in Thailand but it seems that they relocated to nearby countries. Macau is the favorite spot for Portuguese companies in Asia due to our previous influence there.

I've been registered on the sites I mention previously for more than two years, sent hundreds of applications, while abroad, and only received two replies. I arrived in Bangkok in early February and until now no “light at the end of the tunnel”. I do not want a western salary but I’m not Thai also. One must admit that is not easy to be hired other than as a Teacher, the amount of paperwork, the minimum wage, registered capital, thai-foreigner ratio...

My 6 months ticket will soon expire, maybe it’s time for me to go back… or teach?!

Add to that:

You should also try looking at company specific websites (for western companies), many of which will list positions by country. Most of them want locals, though - they came here for cheap labor, and you ain't it.

Those are, mainly, thai language sites.

Good advice. Many companies dont advertise on the job boards. Im not sure why

as its good exposure for them. Perhaps too good exposure if the HR staff is lazy

and doesn't want to process through many resume's.

Myself, I've not had very good luck with the job boards. Some of the jobs

there I think are just recycled outdated listings or just outright bs.

Its a slow tedious process finding each international companies website

but well worth the effort. I've bookmarked their career search page

and set up job alerts to email me if a job comes up that matches a keyword.

You didn't say anything about trying the international consultant companies.

These people have head hunters that search for you.

Outsourcing/contract companies are another potential prospect. It seems

more and more companies dont want to bother with the hiring/payroll/benefits process and hand the job over to companies that specialize in finding/hiring employees. I can attest to this approach as ive dealt with many lame HR depts.

If you've got a lot of experience writing code you could work over the internet and

not even bother with international companies. This would be the option that

I would put most time into.

good luck in your search. I find it baffling that you cannot find anything with

your knowledge.

I've checked many western companies but many of the job openings are outdated. For e.g.: Siemens (2004), Celestica (2002)...

It seems like a endless loop.

All goes down to knowing the right people, i think.
