I have a few questions about the education visa.

1. Is it hard to get a multiple entry visa? How much does that cost compared to the single entry?

2. If I get only a single entry and wish to leave the country, how much does the stamp I need cost?

3. Knowing that I have to check in with immigration every 90 days, do I have to pay money each time? Paperwork is needed from the school in order to check in, correct?

4. What is the best way to maximize the time on the visa? I've heard something about 14 months...

5. If I reenter Thailand right before the visa expires, I will get an additional 90 days, correct?

1. Normally easy in home country but harder near Thailand. 2 1/2 times the cost of single entry.

2. 1,000 baht.

3. 1,900 baht for new extension of stay with school paperwork. You also have to report address every 90 days with TM47. If using multi entry visa no address or extension of stay required but you must leave country return every 90 days or less.

4. Answer is 5 - so almost 15 months.

Following the original questions can I also get some clarification. I am an Australian currently residing in Hong Kong. I am taking 6 mths off work and will be spending some of that time in Phuket. I have applied for an ED visa and was told at the HK embassy that I could only get a Single Entry.

Do I need to get a re-entry each time I want to leave the Thailand or is there such a thing as a multiple re-entry stamp which will allow me to come and go using my original ED visa ?

A single entry will be 90 days and to keep that 90 days alive prior to travel you could obtain a single re-entry at 1,000 baht or multi at 3,800 baht but both would only allow entry/stay until the current permitted to stay 90 days expires - it will not add any time.
