Suthep: Authorities assigned to probe Rama III bombing

BANGKOK (NNT) -- Acting Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has assigned authorities to expedite the investigation of a bomb blast on Rama III Road yesterday.

According to authorities, a small bomb hidden in a garbage bin exploded in a residential area on Rama III Road Soi 29 in Yannawa district in the evening of 24 September, wounding three people. Mr Suthep has thus assigned Deputy National Police Chief, Police General Wichien Pojphosri, to step up security. If necessary, troops from the 1st Army Area will also be deployed to heighten the safety measures.

The Caretaker Prime Minister also noted that the incident should not be linked with the Government’s evaluation whether or not to lift the Emergency Decree in the city, citing that the action could arouse public confusion.

In a related development, Mr Suthep said yesterday that the Government was floating the idea of lifting the State of Emergency in some additional provinces early next month; however, the security measures would still be imposed.

He most definitely did NOT say it wasn't political in origin.

This only says it 'should not be', so as to give a hint,

that it is not going to sway the governments decisions,

not that it is not connected to the political troubles.
