IanForbes
Thanks for taking the time to post all that, Kan. I love the pano of the Sai Yok Noi waterfall. I think I'll take my two water babies there when I go to see them in January. This is Luk Kae, the small, Thai village where they live. I've never seen another farang there in all the times I've visited. Thailand has thousands of similar villages scattered around the country. This section of the river has now been developed into a municipality park. It's easy to arrange a boat ride in Kanchanaburi and only costs a few hundred baht. mca
I'm off to Kan for the long weekend and these pics are just whetting my appetite. I've seen on the web that there's an open zoo safari park in the area. Saw pics of giraffes sticking their heads in the tour bus etc. My 7 year old daughter would love that. Is it worth a visit? Plus I'd like to take the train from Kan to ( I think it's) Nam Tok station. How long a trip is it? Recommended? Cheers.

Yes buy plenty of food for the hungry animals there. Plus I'd like to take the train from Kan to ( I think it's) Nam Tok station. How long a trip is it? Recommended? IanForbes
Maybe for the same reason that the street sign painter in the USA painted this... I'ts right down the road from where a friend of mine lives. It's been my experience that Thais don't always spell English translations the same way every time. I see on Thailand maps that the Thai word for island (Koh) spelled without the "h" or with the h right behind the K... Kho Luk Kai, the little Thai village just inside the Kanchanaburi province, is sometimes spelled "Luc Kae" Even my Thai lady spells her own name several different ways. Kan Win
All, here is my effort of a humble contribution with pics from the temple Sua - my wife tells me we farangs know it as the tiger temple, at Thamuang (wifey not sure about the latin spelling) We go here once every time we visit Kanchanaburi as I think the hole construction is impressive and beautiful and the view over the River Kwai valley is terrific. Any military man would have built his castle here with guns and the whole works, but no the Thais built a temple..... It seems you have o click on the pics to get them in larger size, I got what yuo see here Well that is THE REAL TIGER TEMPLE in Kan and thank you 'Frank La Rue' and your good lady for saying that.
