Howdy. Need a little advice for peace of mind.

I came into LOS in late April with a Non Immigrant B Visa (Multi-Entry) in my name from the USA. I scored a job at a school, then by July got all my paperwork sorted and had my Work Permit and some new stamp in the passport such that I now was no longer on the multi-entry plan, but simply had to report to Immigration in 90 days - by Oct 17th.

I'm unhappy with the school and not going to return for next term. How will this affect my situation ?

Will my Visa just revert back to a simple Non-Imm B with the old expiry dates ?

Will the Non-Imm B Visa get back its multiple entry ability without having to fill out forms to exit n return to the country ? Or is that forever changed ?

I lose my Work Permit, when will I have to report this to Immigration and start with 90 day border runs again ?

It cost me 1900 baht to get the WP and get the Visa processing, will I have to pay a fee as I change my status with Immigration ?

Thanks in advance !

By the looks of things you are on extension of stay based on employment, therefore after your last day at work you have 24 hours to get out the country, all your visa's are null and void, you can get a 7 days extension for THB 1900

1.900 baht is the fee for extension of stay. On the last day of employment your extension of stay ends and you must leave the country or pay 1,900 baht for a 7 day window to leave. Any delay is considered overstay.

If your original visa has not been defaced you should be able to return on a new 90 day entry.

Thanks for the quick replies. I want to add a couple details to see if this makes things more clear.

The original Non-Immigrant B, Multiple Entry was purchased by me on 15/4/2010. I was stamped into the country in BKK on 23/4/2010.

The Work Permit and the subsequent extension of stay is stamped 20/6/2010, with a need to report to Immigration again by 17/10/2010.

Lopburi3, no my original visa is not defaced/ altered/ stamped in any way. So when you say doing the border run up to Mae Sai (in my case) should get me another 90 day extension, you mean that I will fall back under the usual 90 reporting periods at border crossings, and that my Non B will still remain in effect ? If so that is good news. Having just 90 days given to me and that's that would be a bummer. Do I understand this correctly ?

By my understanding, if the Visa remains intact and covers me, I will have until the expiry date 14/4/2011 to continue residing in the country under it - and of course will travel for my last 3 months' stamp right around that date.

So by the way,.... I am on semester break right now and have not given notice yet..... so I have not officially left work

yet. Will I receive some sort of paper when I do quit, or exactly how will Immigration know what/ when my 24 hour window is ?

If I need to I'll run by the local Immigration office for a consult on Monday. Of course what I fear is an answer I don't like, or even 2-3 different answers about my options that will leave me confused.

Yes 90 day visa entries. When job ends work needs to provide you a letter addressed to immigration telling them to cancel your extension of stay.

Thanks alot Lopburi n others ! I can now head into town for a proper Sat night without any big worries. I know you guys answer these kinds of things all the time, and everybody's situations are pretty much 'same-same but different. I"m' in my 8th yr here, and this is the 1st time to follow up the Visa with a work permit and mess with my autonomousness in The Kingdom - you can imagine I was a little worried what's gonna happen next. I feel prepared for the next steps now.

Thanks again for taking the time !
