"It's clear that the bombers are Red Shirt people," Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon told AFP. :whistling:

From the repots that I have seen it only mentions an explosion. Is there absolute proof that this is a bomb?

Fisrt thing that would happen is the bomb squad would be called in and within minutes they can tell the difference between a gas explosion and a bomb.

It would also be the first question any reporter worth his salt would ask. The only question that remains is what kind of explosives were used which takes time.

What get's me is the Thai government saying it was the Red Shirts which is a very wide spectrum to go blaming.

There's rogue Red shirts I'm sure most Red Shirts want nothing to do with.

The Red Shirt rally's proved a waste of time and cost many lives. The did neither side any favours and a repeat could have the country on it's knees.

It would seem there are way too many officials out there wanting to make a name for themsleves by making statements to the press without actually consulting the man at the top.

Perhaps not the case this time but Abhisit needs to take control of these people and gag them until they know for sure what went down.

Of course, this must have been done by the Red Shirts! They can´t say, that this blast will have been done by the military to prepare a new military coup. One or two more blasts with a lot of killed people makes it. Then the army will be the SAVIOR of the nation... Wait and see. You will see. And do not believe any media here!!!

Abhisit, speaking on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe Summit in Brussels, said he instructed for a speedy investigation into the explosion.

He said at the summit, he took the opportunity to explain the necessity of the state of emergency in Bangkok and surrounding provinces. The European leaders understood the precarious situation and did not voice objection to emergency rule, he said.

Convenient that as he's explaining to European leaders about the need to extend the state of emergency a bomb goes off in BKK. :whistling:

Convenient indeed. Outside of Thailnd the Democrat Party is seen as the polictical wing of the Junta

Interesting. So it was an IMAGINARY bomb then, was it?

It isn't. The coup talk is just more red air.

IMO this explosion looks like it's the biggest red balls-up since they went hunting for their own snipers at Chula hospital.

What a croc of $hit, ok lets blame the RED SHIRTS for everything.

Yes ... It was just at an apartment that was rented by a known red shirt with an outstanding arrest warrant. Nothing to do with the reds. Just a big coincidence.

The red shirt terrorists publicly stating that they were going to cause more mayhem was just another in a long string of bizzare coincidences, very strange.

"It's clear that the bombers are Red Shirt people," Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon told AFP.

And how on earth does he come to that conclusion? very irresponsible statement, when its far to early to to know exactly what happened, it could of easily been a gas explosion but until an investigation is conducted he really should be proffessional in his position and refrain from making inaccurate statements until the proper information is made available to him.

very irresponsible statement Is there ever another sort of statement in the realm.

The room where the blast occurred was rented by Samai Wongsuwan.

He is a known Red shirt with a warrant for his arrest re SoE offences.

He was killed in the blast, so probably accidental.

If they knew that he was a red shirt with a warrant and they knew where he rented a room, why did they not arrest him before he even had the chance to make a bomb? Something always smells fishy in Thailand. Maybe it's just the fish sauce.

Well! they have to blame someone. Do you think they would blame themselves?:whistling: This is the Thai government, say anything without knowing anything.

I'm sorry, but they have it all wrong. Some Thai found out that eating certain types of beans, as well as cabbage, can, and often do, cause flatulence. They also heard, read, saw where someone lit a match and held it near their butt when they farted, causing a small fireball. Thinking this would be great fun, three of them stuffed themselves with beans and cabbage the night before, and the next day, when the gas started, one of them held it in until he just HAD to let it out. He bent over, dropped his pants and cut loose while another held a match near his little brown hole. Result? Massive explosion.

:shock1:

Indeed, we now have public red figures from a movement which has caused violent mayhem in the past on multiple occasions, now openly threatening to cause more violent mayhem, and there is some actual violent mayhem, what are people supposed to think it was from?

In all fairness, has anyone seen the evidence yet that the apartment was indeed rented by a 'red terrorist'? For all we know, the apartment owner could be dead (blew himelf up?) and not even related to the red shirt movement. So, who has seen this 'evidence'? Or is it just talk? Because it's unlikely for a bomb to go off without someone playing around with it. And who would be playing around with a bomb if not the bomb maker (apartment renter?).

But was it rented by him?

The truth will out at some point, anyone that thinks this mob in power are not involved in the recent bombings to extend the SoE are living in cloud cuckoo land, also the desire for amnesty is strongly being objected by both the reds and yellows, the yellows because they think it will point to the reds, the reds because the KNOW the evidence will point to the current mob that was handed power.

Yes we all know that the red shirts are peaceful as we saw by the nice end to their protest as they all packed up at went home peacefully. Is that the cloud cuckoo land that you are living in?

BIB didn't know he rented the room until the room went BANG! and afterwards they asked the landlord "who rented that room?" You don't see the cockroaches until you shine the light on them, but I think they will be too smart for you anyway. Stop drinking the fish sauce.

No one said it wasn't Red Shirts but there's plenty nutters out there who call themselves Red Shirts who decide of their own accord to do something '. It does not mean the Red Shirt leaders authorised tem to do it.

You don't have to be a genius to make a bomb and you need even less brains to blow yourself up.

I would have thought the if Red Shirt leaders were planning a bombing they would have experts doing the bomb making.

I just can't see it being any different here than it was in Ireland.

When the IRA let off a bomb during the troubles they took credit for it but how many times did some group calling themslves the IRA let of bomb and the IRA had no knowledge of it.?

Shouldn't come to anyone as a shock if that happens to be the case here.

As far as the Military planning a coup I think you've been watching too many movies.

What you are saying is that all the Red Shirts out there are all peace loving people and none of them would ever ever plant a bomb.

So the Military in their frustration waiting in vain for a Red Shirt to be bad boys and plant a bomb hav eto go out and do it tmlselves. Then they blame the Red Shirts so the people including the Red Shirts will love them because they're John Wayne and the Cavalry?

Can I remind you smoking Waccy Baccy is illegal in Thailand.?:jap:

Firts it was a 50 kilo bomb they were prepping. Hmm a bit heavy to take down stairs from second floor. Now it's a 10 kilo bomb. First they found air rifle but then they display real rifle. Let's wait and see. The story and versions of are growing.

This is a good enough reason to extend the SOE forever. The army have learn a lot of their work in the South. Keep the killing going, and the budget will keep coming.

Could I just tweek that opening paragraph of the article to make it a little more digestable?

"Thailand on Wednesday blamed a deadly blast at an apartment complex near Bangkok on the anti-government "Red Shirt" movement as after investigators probed whether concluded that a bomb-maker caused the explosion accidentally."

OKAY... now it all makes sense.

Commenting on an earlier remarks by Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, he said he could confirm that about 39 red shirts had received training on terrorism and that 11 of them completed the course.

Received training from who?

I wonder if they got a certificate
