I'll be spending the night in Hat Yai before flying out, probably

somewhere near the train station. Can anyone tell me where the aiport

songthaews depart from in town? I beleive there is also a minibus

service if anyone has information on that.

Many thanks ...

HaadYai is a small prosperous town.

You can stay in any of the better hotels which are all walking distance from the Train station.

Only backpackers stay by the train station which charge around 300 THB.

Several better and cleaner hotels charge from 700 THB to 1,000 at Lee Garden Plaza, which is the center of town.

There are plenty of night activities in HaadYai.

There are tuktuk as well as songtaew running from HaadYai to the airport. Just ask the bellcaptain.

Have fun and good luck.

I like your price of 20 THB very much.

Will look forward to paying that worthy ride for 20 THB.

Thx. mkawish

There is a blue songtheo that goes to the airport.

I forget the number...

Keep an eye for this big sign at the front ....สนามบิน

Hail a blue one down and ask for the magic words...'sanam bin...?'

They pass at the side of Kimyong market....

Then over the bridge etc.

It's only 20 baht..other means are a ripoff.

It should take approx 30 minutes to the airport.

"HaadYai is a small prosperous town."

Sorry I'm not trying to be funny but describing the biggest city in the south of Thailand as a small prosperous town is rather amusing, it might have been once but now it's the second largest metropolitan of Thailand.

Mike you are so very correct also.

Thanks for highlighting that HaadYai is more than a SMALL prosperous town and that it now becomes even the second largest metro of Thailand.

Surely coming from Big Apple, even HaadYai is the second largest metro in Thailand,

it still appears sort of 'tiny' , don't you agree? LOL

As a matter of fact, I love HaadYai and what it has to offer much more than Bangkok and Chiengmai.

Where else on this good earth, can a person buy a genuine Indonesian batek shirt for 115 THB.

No, it is not the S size either. The one that I am wearing right now is a XXL.

Long live HaadYai.

I doubt I've ever stayed at a hotel that has a "bellcaptain". Hmmmm. Time to move up in the world lol.

Thanks vinniekintana .... and to everyone else for your replies.

Will attempt to intercept an "aunuuu" bus on the far side of the bridge.

Cheers.

Just one more thing.

SongTaew can not stop to pick you up immediately before or after the half circle concrete bridge.

You either need to wait for the SongTaew at the KimYong Market and watch out for the SongTaew or

walk over the bridge, then wait for the SongTaew after the bride which will put you

right in front of the HaadYai Immigration Office on your left hand side.

At the zenith of that bride will also afford some pretty good view of the railroad station to the south and

a pretty view of the market at the southern end.

Wherever you go, pls do keep all valuables with you. Cheers.

Central Hotel and Lee Garden Plaza do have bellcap available when we were visiting there sometimes ago.

To finish the story I arrived by train yesterday and stayed

at the Rado Hotel ... quite comfortable for 360 baht (needs

paint) good AC Hot Shower and lots of english language TV.

Walked to market corner and waiting at the traffic lights

as I arrived was the blue sangthaew for the airport. Hint ...

Look for the big red on white destination sign on canopy

above the cab.

Cheers.
