Call From Bangkok Hospital

I just received a call on my office number from a guy at Bangkok Hospital, he spoke first with my staff and asked for me by name, when the call was put through he spoke no English, and then he ended the call before I could give it back to my staff.

I have checked all my loved ones (although they would call on my mobile number and not my office), I am just wondering if anyone else has had calls, do they do telesales from the hospital or is there some scam that anyone is aware of regarding this?

The answer on your question "has anyone else recieved calls" yes i recieved the last hour about 6 incoming calls, just for the record i also had 4 outgoing calls, avarage call (just some information) 2 minutes and 14 sec.

Only God knows how many telemarketing speels I have been spared because I do not speak fluent Thai. When I reply loudly "WHAT???" you can actually hear the deer-in-the-headlights expressions. Rock on! And let it be....

TBH, I am not sure why the need for nasty sarcasm here. Guy gets a phone call from a hospital, doesn't get any info from it and obviously wonders whats up. I would certainly be calling all of my friends and family to make sure it wasn't someone sick or injured in the hospital and would prefer to know that hospitals perform telesales if it had happened to me. Why they would be performing telesales, I have no idea.

Perhaps, its one of those unanswerable questions, like why do so many people on Thaivisa have nothing better to do than stir?

I guess you might be able to take comfort in the fact that if it was staff at the hospital contacting you on behalf of someone you know their endeavors would continue.

It appears to me to be very much like some form of telemarketing. Hospitals over here are a business.

Alternatively. There are 3 foreigners in Bangkok with my name registered at Both Bumrungrad and Samitivej - I know this because when I have 'checked in' I am asked which one am I, and have to identify my DOB and Passport number.

It's possible that someone of the same name has an appointment he has missed or they are trying to confirm etc...

Well, this is exactly the kind of thread that makes some people concerned about asking questions on Thaivisa and frankly, i for one, am tired of trollish immature behavior from people who have nothing better to do with their lives than stir.

So, before I close this thread I would like to suggest that these people take a close hard look at themselves and why they can do nothing productive on this board because I am starting to think its time for a weeding of those who have nothing better to do than troll.
