October 10, 201015 yr handsome, talented, and he does stuff like this. Its not every day a Hollywood heart-throb pitches up in your classroom. But these Greenwich schoolgoers left the rest of Britain's children - if not parents - green with envy when they had a surprise visit from Johnny Depp yesterday. The star is currently in south-east London filming the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie On Stranger Tides and arrived at the Meridian Primary School dressed in full character as Captain Jack Sparrow. He made the one-off trip after nine-year-old pupil Beatrice Delap wrote to the star asking for help staging a 'mutiny' against the teachers, as he was filming at the nearby 18th century Old Naval College. October 10, 201015 yr I saw that on the BBC website a day or so ago and I am impressed that he took the time to visit the school. Most stars would not have bothered.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Yes, he's done it before as well. Once when he went to donate a million pounds to the hospital that took care of his daughter, visited all the kids in the ward dressed up in costume, and another time as well, its mentioned in the article. While in London for the premiere of his gangster flick Public Enemies in 2009, Johnny made a visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital to entertain some young patients. And he did it dressed as his "Pirates of the Caribbean" flamboyant alter ego Jack Sparrow. "Johnny was so friendly with all the children on the ward and they absolutely loved his pirate outfit," a source told Wenn. "He spoke to lots of the youngsters and staff — and made their day by posing for pictures with them all." This was not the 46-year-old's first encounter with the London-based children's hospital. In 2007, daughter Lily-Rose was treated there for reported kidney failure, and in addition to donating his time, Johnny has given more than $1.5 million to the facility. . ACTOR Johnny Depp secretly visited London's Great Ormond St Hospital yesterday (2008) to donate a million pounds to thank staff for saving his daughter's life.Depp arrived unexpectedly at the renowned children's hospital where eight-year-old Lily-Rose was treated last year when her kidneys failed. Last week he invited five Great Ormond St doctors and nurses to the party for the London premiere of his film Sweeney Todd. And unknown to the public, Depp spent four hours at the hospital telling bedtime stories to patients dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean. Last March, Lily-Rose spent nine days at Great Ormond St when E.coli poisoning led to the failure of her kidneys.
October 10, 201015 yr Great that he bothers to visit schools. Not so great that he bothers to continue milking such a tired franchise. The first one was pretty good, the second pretty bad, and the third appalling. Must we be served a fourth? Wouldn't bother me if we were talking Arnie. Johnny is so much better than this.
October 10, 201015 yr Author gotta admit he fills in the inbetweens with alot of other really memorable performances tho

Thing is Rix, Pirates of the Carribean is still extremely popular and JD is getting paid bundles. Added to this, his credentials as a fine actor are already secure. Its always nice to hear tales like this though.
October 10, 201015 yr I'd imagine he keeps doing them for his own kids (and the oddles of money ), they must love seeing dad up on screen playing a cool pirate.
October 10, 201015 yr Good onya Johnny Depp. I've read he's a really good person off the screen, as well as( what I think) being a great actor.
October 10, 201015 yr Johnny.... oh God..sorry..was i supposed to write something sensible... but..i just cant think straight..
October 10, 201015 yr My friends husband works for JD as his personal sound guy/part time assistant and from what she tells me he really is a great guy. One time whilst shooting a movie in London he suggested to my friends husband that she and his daughter fly out and stay with him for a month, all expenses paid by JD. Not a big deal for JD, I'm sure, but pretty darn thoughtful, considering the stories of how some celebrities treat their employees.
October 11, 201015 yr He can come and visit me anytime. I will free up my extremely heavy social diary.
October 11, 201015 yr right on, JD...ain't nothin' more wonderful than bringing delight into a child's life and a smile onto their faces...they ain't never gonna fergit that one
October 12, 201015 yr Some celebrities let stardom go to their heads and become jerks. Others, like Johnny Depp and Paul Newman remain the good guys they always were.
October 20, 201015 yr Great that he bothers to visit schools. Not so great that he bothers to continue milking such a tired franchise. The first one was pretty good, the second pretty bad, and the third appalling. Must we be served a fourth? Wouldn't bother me if we were talking Arnie. Johnny is so much better than this. You would do anything for the same opportunity. That is jealous talk and what have you done with your life? rhetorical

October 21, 201015 yr Author And why the need to hijack a thread about a man who is doing some really good things out there with petty posts is also beyond me
October 21, 201015 yr And why the need to hijack a thread about a man who is doing some really good things out there with petty posts is also beyond me If anything was hijacking the thread, it was talk of killing people. No? I was simply expressing an opinion of the movie that he is promoting in the article. Seemed somewhat pertinent to me. Wasn't meant to take anything away from the good work he does and that i applaud him for.
October 21, 201015 yr It's a matter of opinion. I actually enjoy all of the pirates of the caribbean movies and I'm looking forward to the next one. But then this wasn't supposed to be a discussion about his films. I saw an interview with him once and he came across as a very down to earth and likeable person. Good on ya johnny.
October 21, 201015 yr Author Well, yes and a short review of the thread shows that indeed it was a conversation about him as a person rather than his films for at least the first three posts. The fact is, too many Hollywood stars are very bad role models and its great to see one who is a good one. There are more than a few people out there who could learn from his generosity of spirit. (and no, I am not going to get into an argument about how much money he makes compared to how much he donates as the point here is the donation of his time and and energy to reaching out to his smaller fans.)
I don't think discussion of his movies in itself was the problem, it was daring to have said something negative about them that was deemed unacceptable. Anyway, for the record, and to repeat, i think he's a great actor. Edward Scissorhands and more recently, Alice in Wonderland, are for me, highlights of his career.
October 21, 201015 yr Wasn't meant to take anything away from the good work he does and that i applaud him for. I quite clearly meant to take something away from the good work he does, which I do not applaud him for. I imagine he'll cope with the disappointment and find a way through the blue. My comment might of been tongue-in-cheek, but that is only because he first got away with murder 18 years ago. And then again around 9 years ago. In lieu of the ridiculously warranted yet non-existent police investigations, I have compiled all available circumstantial evidence and hearsay and, to the charges of "Murder in the First Degree", on the first count I have found him "Guilty" and on the second count, I have found him "LOL Guilty". The trails had long since been allowed to cool on both, of course - but the circumstantial evidence pointing to Depp being involved in both murders is really quite overwhelming. Two men were killed, both with stars on the rise (each presenting a clear and grave threat to Depp); and the only person who had motive to kill them was one Johnny Depp. I assure you there are many African-Americans suffering in US prisons after their guilt was agreed upon by a jury (which, on rare occasion, might contain a token peer or two) who were satisfied with prosecution cases which had only a mere fraction of the damning circumstantial evidence which might (in a fictional - just - world) indict Depp for his role in the murders of two innocent men who were each toasting a success which had been arrived at by virtue of Depp's expense. River's sheer talent threatened to relegate Depp to a "First Alternate" career something akin to that enjoyed by one S.C.G. MacGill; freakish talent only rarely presented with opportunity due to being relegated by mere preferences behind another freakish talent, with room only for one freak, of course. The success of Fox in seeking redress against Depp's years of theft / fraud was a threat which loomed in stark, way too stark for comfort (and Fox should have known better), contrast before Depp. If Fox pressed his advantage, the cost to Depp would be far greater than the Viper Room they were fighting over. Extensive damages, ruined reputation, career torpedoed - not to mention criminal charges as a result of the imminent Guilty verdict about to be handed down by the civil court judge. Of course we'll never know. Depp doesn't leave such matters to chance. Fox had to have known the backlash would come. He's 'knows'...now. Innocent the two men may have been; well-advised they were not. When you shoot at the (wannabe) King, you best not miss. It probably also helps if you know you're shooting, but then no one could accuse River Phoenix of being a 'realist' about such things. River's threat (as it existed so long as River remained alive) to Depp's career vanished in a smoky cloud of conflicting stories from sources who - one would think - have no reason to lie for they have nothing to hide. And yet, they are lying. Innocent parties adamantly holding firm to contradicting - yet seemingly irrelevant, seemingly innocuous details. And that can only mean one thing. People who have no reason to lie have lied, and are refusing to allow the record to be corrected. And that really only ever means one thing. Someone is being protected. And the witnesses refusing to budge on Irrelevant details will refuse to correct even innocuous, petty detail so as not to expose their credibility to suspicion at an inopportune time (such as directly after being called to give testimony in a high-profile murder trial). Anyone (and it's quite safe to assume River Phoenix was not an imbecile) who understands basic chemistry knows if you mix up your illicit (read: impure, street-sourced) heroin, with your illicit (read: impure, street-sourced) cocaine, with your illicit (read: impure, street-sourced) crystal meth, with your illicit marijuana, and chase the deadly cocktail down with Diazepam and Alcohol for good measure....you're playing an idiotically dangerous game with the wrong side of consciousness - and pain. No investigations have been conducted. No charges laid. All the witness stories contradicting each other, but they can't escape the simple fact: Either River Phoenix knowingly was trying to kill himself in Depp's Mafia-filled nightclub - or he was poisoned by someone with murderous intent in Depp's Mafia-filled nightclub. When he had no - possible - reason to be in Depp's Mafia-filled nightclub. Everyone that knew River Phoenix unequivocally stated he was not suicidal. None of them believed it was appropriate to put forward an explanation for why his party went to the Viper Room. The police most certainly saw no cause for alarm. The official cause of death was "acute multiple drug intoxication - Accident". LOL. Had his body been riddled with bullets, no doubt the autopsy report would read "acute multiple projectile impact - Accident" ". Tragic. But nothing to see here. Move it along... Whilst the actions (of lack of) the Police could feasibly be expected; many were surprised that none of River's friends in Hollywood appeared interested in pressing the police or the media to investigate. Simply callous? Or did they all know something the confused spectators did not.... The owners of the club (Johnny Depp and Anthony Fox - despite of, or in light of, their links to the Mob) were never even questioned by police in relation to the poisoning and murder of River Phoenix inside* their club. Witnesses can't even agree on whether he died inside or out. One fireman who formed part of the Early Response team, swore that River died inside but was dragged outside by staff. Hard to give such a claim much credence when River's own family members claim he died outside. But whilst the fireman's story seems ludicrous, what possible reason could he have to fabricate it? And when River's own party can't agree on whether he was seizing up inside the club or not.... And that's really the nature of almost all the witness accounts of River's innocuous (yet illogical bordering on implausible) 'suicide'. Even his own family and friends cannot get their story straight. No matter your head tilt, you choke on smoke. 6 years later, Depp and Fox were themselves embroiled in a drawn-out dispute in the civil courts legal battle with each other, after Fox had filed suit that Depp had conspired to steal millions in undeclared profits, covered up with cooked books. The legal proceedings were on the brink of a verdict, and the judge was quite clearly ruling in favour of Fox and was all-but-certainly going to hand the entire club to Fox, after already ruling that: The facts establish persistent and pervasive fraud and mismanagement and abuse of authority. So with a civil court about to rule in favour of Fox, and hand down a decision ruling Depp was guilty of persistent theft, fraud and unethical abuse of authority as the controlling partner...the judge never got to finish his verdict. Instead, the following developments occurred: * Anthony Fox, about to realise an unlikely victory (and vindication) after 3 years of civil court action, almost certainly about to be awarded sole ownership of the club (and unknown damages), with a 16 year old daughter with whom he shared a tight bond...simply woke up one day on the brink of victory...and vanished without a trace. In 10 years since he disappeared, not one hint that he's still alive. Strange timing, no? * Unable to proceed when the plaintiff is missing, the trial didn't. Proceed. As the statute of limitations arrived, Depp had his lawyers quietly transfer full ownership of the club to Miss Fox. Closing out the affair nice and clean. One way of achieving an out-of-court settlement with a fool who refuses to listen to your reason. * Miss Fox quickly sold it to a respectable buyer, and has appeared almost proactively disinterested in pursuing the nature of her murdered / missing father. Smart kid. * Depp - who had moved to France prior to Fox being murdered - sunk further into reclusion...emerging back onto the global consciousness as a shifty but endearing pirate in the Caribbean franchise. ----------------- The above is all verifiable. Did he kill River Phoenix? Did he kill Anthony Fox? Impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt. Especially when one refuses to investigate. Shucks. Guess we'll - never - know. Sorry to hijack your lovefest celebrating the amazing nature of a double-murderer. And his amazing tips to those who save his daughter's life.
October 21, 201015 yr Is it true that Johnny didn't bring his "Dad" with him as the officials thought it would be too frightening for the kids. ?...

I was reading an article in FORBES* about "Seven Custom Yachts to dream about" and ran, by accident, into the amazing beautiful yacht of Mr. Johnny Depp which ran as #4, and I must say that I like that yacht very much. Now, I don't know if you were talking to me but if you were I wonder why I wouldn't be entitled to post that link about his yacht and what is wrong with that?
