Spike in American's interest in moving abroad post election -- hot air yet again?
See faint red line from left to right at top of the US Dollar Index chart above. This red line is monthly resistance, highly significant - if Champ successfully breaks out above this, as it appears to be doing right now, we’ll be swinging. A strong USD encourages Americans to travel Thread title mentions Americans leaving due to election result. I don’t think so. Its all talk like back in 2016. However in the larger view, US passport holders is at 42% now in 2024 as opposed to a mere 3% in 1989 thus showing a long-term rising TREND. Now throw in a ferocious Dollar and the incentive to at least travel is climbing. -

This sub-forum is quiet almost like half the posters are missing - since the election
People wanted change so bad, they could not care who it was. I have friends in the space industry who have hung around with Musk. He is only interested in getting the gov regulators off his back so he can get to Mars ASAP. Could have been a goat running for pres, he would have backed him. As far as Make America Great Again, that means throwing us back to the 1940's/50's where the US was the only industrial country left standing after WWII and we were rebuilding the world. It was the rise of the Middle Class at that time. Prior to 1940, 60% of Americans were in poverty and the upper 10% owned 90% of the wealth. It is this latter data point that bothers me as the Middle Class shrinks and the ultra rich increase in % of overall wealth. -

Bangkok cheaper than Jomtien
Thread title is about relative prices, not marital status. Generally Bangkok has always been more expensive than the Pattaya area, but on saying that I can only go back 25 years, may have been different in the days of R&R. -
