Any feedback on the stock IRC Roadwinner tyres? I'm thinking of putting some Pirelli Sport Demon on mine when it arrives but interested to know what people who have used the IRC ones think of them, anyone used them in rain yet?

The IRC Roadwinners are notoriously slippery in the wet... They are cheap long lasting tires but quite a hard compound so make sure they are warmed up and don't push them too hard. Ride On! T

Reminder. If any one does change the tyres on their CBR250.

I will buy a set of your IRC's. I need them to get my Suzuki VX800 back on the road so a touring/hard wearing tyre is ok..

Not sure i would keep the IRC's on something like the CBR though. I would certainly want some thing with more all round grip.

I'm going to find some Continental Contiforce. It's a sport touring radial designed for everyday use. I also offers longer tread life compared to the Pirellis... for more info, just google the two different tires. The Continentals are also offered in a 150-60ZR17 size, which will fit the CBR and offer wider tread. The Pirellis can be had in the stock size only...

If you do google reviews of both you'll see the Sport Demons have better owner reviews with a longer life.

sorry but that is just plain ugly- if you need to carry loads of items, go to honda and order a tank bag- more than one size and when you dont need it, it is gone...

If you need space to carry stuff all the time- buy a scooter...

Just to let you all know- yes- i have one on my PCX- just for that purpose, carry stuff around!!!

Sportsbike with a box?? My god, what is next? Panniers? Saddle bags? Sidecar?

LOLZ! For once I actually agree with you! :lol:

Tank bags are nice. Mine was 800 baht from a roadside helmet shop, has a nice map pocket on top, and it comes right off the bike when you stop or go for day hops. The CBR-150 seems more stable as you add weight so no issues there.

Took a long trip up north last month and the bike ran great, but three days ago something got sucked through the valve train. (Still trying to sort out what that was.....) Trying to decide today between a Versys and the CBR-250. I'd go for the Versys if it wasn't twice as expensive to buy, more expensive to run, and bulkier. Trips on it would sure be a lot nicer. The CBR-250 looks like a better deal for an all-around bike. Then again a buddy has a cherry CBR-150 for sale. Choices.....argghhhh....

for those they are interested, the speedo of the cbr150 seems to be around 10% optimistic.

I don't want to call you out Hili, but are you sure the pictures are from the 150?

At 6krpm my bike reads approximately 100kph.

At 6.5krpm my bike also reads 110kph.

My bike is 250cc. . .

for those they are interested, the speedo of the cbr150 seems to be around 10% optimistic.

Perhaps, but a 150/70-17 is not a size that'll work... you'll have to readjust your speedometer amongst other things.

The nasty insurance corporation of Canada has refused insurance claims after a spill due to incorrect tire sizing for said model, and the resulting reduced contact patch of the too large tires. Seen too many examples of large tires squeezed onto a smaller rim; there's a Ninja 250 around town with a bad case of tire bulge.

CBR250 has a 4.00" rear rim compared to the Ninja's 3.50", so even a 150/60 should be a nice fit.

Anyone placed an order on an ABS version yet, and if so for how much is your dealer asking for ! in Krabi they are asking/ trying it on to the tune of 20,000 to the price AP HONDA first said they would be sold at 115K

I am not going to by one from this Honda dealer on general principle, and they seem to have the monopoly in the Krabi province with 8 or so branches.

Can someone throw me a bone, im will to travel to get one at the normal price.

Then at least ill get to break it in properly on the run back.

Easy.

I've paid a deposit on an ABS bike, 120,000baht which includes registration and compulsory 3rd party insurance (and a free fan which was the dealbreaker!). I got quoted a few different quotes with the most being 140,000 but I now have a receipt and purchase agreement on headed paper stating 120,000 and delivery in February. I went for the 'Black Knight' version, great looking bike!

The CBR250R is understandably a big deal in Thailand, where choices are limited. But why all the U.S. press for the CBR250R versus almost nothing for Suzuki's equally impressive TU250 when it came out in 2009? The TU250 is superior in at least one respect: It does not pretend to be something it is not. It is dressed in exactly the proper clothing for what it is.

Dunno, but it seems like a good bike for what it is (other than being a Suzuki :o ). It's only offers 16 HP and that pretty much is the same-same as the Tiger Boxer....which is an excellent buy.

Took out some false information.

Actually no one seems to mention, of the same look, is the GB250 clubman.. Back in 89 Honda had 30hp out of a solid reliable road going 250..

It can be found booked and plated for 40 - 60k baht for rougher ones this one is very clean for 65 with a book.

I am actually going to look at a much cheaper one today or tomorrow as I am itching to build something again, and I think a combination restoration and cutting one apart to make a street tracker would be a fun project. I actually want to do the build as much as ride. I have been scanning some Japanese sites and they have made some VERY cool trackers out of them, I am just keen to get the angle grinder out and start changing it. But its a good popping to the shops size, and its individual and not common. Of course that means parts hassles and no warranty but I am game, you can buy entire unbooked / invoice ones for only 30k ish so if I ever REALLY need parts I can buy a donor bike..

I had a Honda GB400 that i turned into a Cafe Racer style bike. Would have liked to have kept it but can only afford one plaything and that will probably be the CBR250 with C-ABS later in the year. After 2 bike accidents (not on the GB400) that i think could have been avoided with ABS (or better riding skills!) i want to play safe, even if it is slightly boring!

It is nonsense to discuss the tastes but even it pretends, this bike cannot be anything.laugh.gif

The looks are from 1950's - definitely do not like round headlights - and it reminds me the boring black and white movies from that era.

I still cannot understand choppers or bikes like this one still have been followed by a lot of admirers around the world after 60 years.

I am sorry but this bike looks like it is for grannies, grandfathers or admirers of black and white movies. I am still young and i do not want to bury myself alive on to a grave.biggrin.gif

US press is including this bike in their reviews as there are lots of admirers of these kind and there are very less 250 bikes there and they need something to write to eat, right?

No advice on the misses, you're on your own on that one, but other than that, I'd love to give you my new 150 Tri-Color for about a month and see what you could/would do with it. lol

You always see them zipping in and out of traffic with 3 gas canisters strapped to the back, with some oily lad in flipflops and dangling cigarette at the helm.

Ummm I think you are seeing either Kawasaki GTO's or maybe very old CG125's. But hey i could be wrong.. but that's all i've ever seen..

Ummm I think you are seeing either Kawasaki GTO's or maybe very old CG125's. But hey i could be wrong.. but that's all i've ever seen..

Trust me the bikes you've seen are not Suzuki Tu 250 Xs. That particular Suzuki has not yet, been made available in Thailand. If you can prove to me otherwise, please do... I'd love to get my hands on one of those. Unlike some people in previous posts... I still appreciate classics and of everything I've read about this bike, it'd be right up my alley.
