* Average highest temperature between April to May is 37 degrees.

* Average lowest temperature between December to January is 21 degrees.

21 degrees the average yearly temperature? Maybe 31, but definitely not 21.

What I find remarkable is how many people are resident in Angthong District (9166). What area does this cover?

Almost as many as Bophut which includes Chaweng, Bophut, Plai Laem, Choengmon etc (9864). and so many more than Maret which includes Lamai, Hua Thanon etc (6915). and 3200 approx. more than Maenam.

This is 6 year old house registration data, not census data so is only counting people registered in Tabien bans. A significant point as anyone who has ever spent any time on any of the islands is aware.

this is interesting. so people that are counted have to change there I.D cards to be registered in samui. or does it only count the people born here.

the people have there names in the tabian baans should be counted because not only do they live here they have a property or renting a property.

infact this is probably why. any thai can have their name in a thabian baan but they can be from anywhere.

I think thais that actually own the land and have their name in the house registration book would be counted

Agreed. There are many more people actually living here.

So when was the last census taken in Thailand and when is the next one due then sbk?

And how often does Thailand take a census?

What is the populatuion of Koh Samui as claimed in the last census?

Just found the answer to one question, It's due THIS YEAR!!!

That should come as no surprise as Angthong (Nathon area) was the first established town. Ban Chaweng (Bo Phud) is by far the most populated and is relatively new. Few people lived there and the Nathon folk would refer to it as "those people on the other side of the mountain". If all the Thais who work there transferred their home address and I.D. cards to their place of work or residence, Chaweng would have by far the most residents and thus more voting power. That is why Chaweng is the last to receive any improvements.

what is

Samui Reporting Station ?

Naval radar station in Namuang.

what density would it take to make samui sink. Is the population limited. Are the mountains being dilberatly cut down to stop the island getting too heavy.

i herd that samui's crust is shaped like a flower. Strong in the middle but the edges are weak. they could flake at any minute. if so then the island could just apple crumble into the sea and the people well. Custard !

cheers for the info about the radar.

I did hear about some strange objects flying in and out of the mountain that were un identified. then again that was from my mate the crack head! telling me a story that his crack head mate told him so that might not be true.

how many bars are in samui. where is the most popular night life ?

Might have to do some research with one of those people counters. might come in handy if someone wants to buy a bar in a certain area

BigC, have you been listening to your politician again?

That's exactly what I thought about. The politician in the video is serious too.

what has that politicain been smoking. have the legalised drugs in parts of the U.S ?

better get some more people to move to the other side of samui before it capsises and tops over :)

or maybe they are on this fake grass that is hitting this forum

You have it backwards. Thai citizens must move their tabien ban here first before they can vote on local politics. A registered person does not necessarily vote, altho it is technically the law. But when they talk about registered people they are talking about house registrations registered here, the tabien ban, of which the majority of people currently residing on both Samui and Phangan are not.
