2010-10-15 18:07:08 GMT+7 (ICT)

HEFEI, CHINA (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed on Friday when an unknown person apparently detonated explosives at a villagers' committee office in eastern China, state-run media reported.

The blast happened when committee staff were mediating a civil dispute in the office in Yonggiao District, Suzhou City of eastern China's Anhui Province.

Local authorities told the state-run Xinhua news agency that police believe someone had set off explosives at the office, although it was not immediately clear if the attacker was involved in the civil dispute.

Xinhua reported that the powerful blast killed at least six people and injured an unknown number of other victims.
