What a cr*p publication . . . reminds me of the 'great' reporting done in the Sun paper in the UK . . . if I was ThaiVisa I'd want nothing to do with this rubbish, but I guess there is money to be made in advertising etc etc

I agree 100 %! If ThaiVisa wants to be taken serious they should get rid of this selfproclaimed journalist "Stickman" asap before he gets too sticky to this forum. Was'nt it enough that the guy poisoned the world with his own crappy website???

You are right and their grammar really s++ks. If they were in my English class they would fail for sure.

I guess many members of Thaivisa would fail too.

Sorry, didn't realise you had to be English and perfect in written English to be a member of TV.

I believe the English teacher was referring to Pattaya One rather than ThaiVisa and what made you think you had to be English? Good English skills include reading comprehension as well as grammatically correct writing and speaking. Perhaps better English skills from both transmitter and receiver could improve any English language venue.

Pattaya One = Thaivisa's 'jumped the shark' moment.

How dare you. We have never had sexual relations with any amphibious creature.......er, I think.

Onlooker, we get it. Three negative posts on three threads. You don't like the paper.

From now on it is pretty easy for you to ignore it. Just don't read it.

Or is this is the world's first case of Stockholm Syndrome by Newspaper?

If so we may lead with it on our next front page.

"Thai Visa Member Stuck in Love-Hate Relationship With Pattaya's Most Successful Publication Shock. (He can't stop Posting).

The Untold Story"

How many insults must TV members take from PO before we decide to go to another site for common sense news reporting?

I truly ask you decision makers at TV... Is the payoff that much to alienate Your members by letting PO constantly reply with rude posts?

They have a very large chip on their shoulder and cannot take useful posts from TV members who trust TV for so many facts while living here in LoS.

If PO is your partner maybe you could give them a hint... To listen to your customers more and defend less!

You will lazt a lot longer.

Who says you are the Most Successful Publication in Pattaya?

Please...Pretty Please show us the link to prove that claim in your last post.

Was there a contest?

Is it by a Journalism School?

Is it by circulatin?

Is it by paid ad revenue?

Is it BS from your imagination?

Please tell us.

Thank you.

Who says you are the Most Successful Publication in Pattaya?

Downloads and eyeballs.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to broadcast these figures, so here goes:

On top of the 5,000 distributed hard copies:

Edition 1 on Pattaya One News site 57,803 readers of Pattaya One publication

Edition 2 on Pattaya One News site (in just 3 days) 10,280 readers.

Thai Visa Edition 1 Individual downloads 5,729

Thai Visa Edition 2 Individual downloads to date (3 days) 3,531.

That's a total of 77,343 online readers for the two editions.

That's on top of the 120,000 views and hundreds of posts on the various Pattaya One topics on Thai Visa recently.

It's not for everyone, and we understand if you don't like it and want to go and post somewhere else instead of trolling by multi-posting on here, but thank you for giving us the opportunity to broadcast our excellent internet figures.

Maybe you could let us have your own publication's figures, if you work for one or own one?

Many thanks to all our readers of the hard copies and online, for their excellent support.

So...Now you accuse me of working for your competition...trolling... and other rude comments.

I will never post again about you or your crapppppy paper.

I was hoping for professionalism from you , but just get attitude and wisecracks.

Many TV members have thousands of posts... I have a couple hundred. Maybe you are poor in math as well as in reporting.

I truly hope your competition checks your numbers for all to see.

I wish you well with PO and your future.

I do feel sorry for your advertisers because I know of many long term TV readers who will never frequent any business associated with your paper due to your rudeness to TV members.

Keep up the good work Pattaya One. It's a thankless business and one always hears the critics, but not the supporters.

Don't delude yourself IAMSOBAD - same people who do not like Pattaya One would never frequent the advertisers anyways. Lighten up and go have a pint of lager. ;)

Suggestions?

You are Pattaya One .. not Nana Plaza One --- You are posted in a Pattaya forum .... not a BKK forum .....

Nowhere in the section of the article posted is there a mention of Patpong other than in the title. I won't be visiting the site to see if there is more.

As for Stick .. he's pretty much been a taboo site for referrals for TV members for years. Your bar report over one of the major prostitution areas in BKK appears to be aimed at adding advertising revenue from BKK to your Pattaya based paper. Folks that want Stick and what he promotes certainly know where to find him. It pretty simply shouldn't be on TVF.

Thanks for your support Britmaveric. It's always nice to see, and it is appreciated by us.

jdinasia, Stickman's column only covers one twenty-fourth of the content pages in the paper, and as you will see as we put the other columns up each day, the rest mostly has a strong Pattaya focus or relevance.

Stickman is hugely popular, but we know, like with all our content, some people will hate some (or sometimes all  ) of it and others will like some or all of it, and we respect people's right to hate it and never read it, or to read it once in dismay and never again visit the forum.

Hopefully you will like some of the other content.

However, we haven't got him in there for any Bangkok-advertising reasons. We have zero distribution in Bangkok, and no advertising from it, unfortunately!

Best wishes.

5000 distributed hard copy's isn't the same as 5000 sold,is it?

Readers on the site? It's for free isn't it?Because I download something or read something FOR FREE on the web doesn't mean I like it.

That the second edition has only about 16% of downloads of the first edition so far says enough that the probably weren't waiting for the 2nd edition after having read the first one.

Well the 120.000 views?Look at how many views a post of the glitterman gets each time, but I don't see many positive reply's to his Topics, same as there were almost none among the hundreds of posts on the Pattaya one topics.

At least you are right about one thing, the figures speak for themselves....They only speak different from what you try to tell us.

Of course it isn't, but who said anything about "sold", except you?

Readers on the site? It's for free isn't it?Because I download something or read something FOR FREE on the web doesn't mean I like it.

If you want to dowload and read literature you hate then that really is up to you. By posting on here you are ironically part of the success of the paper by adding to the page hits - and by downloading it too.

That the second edition has only about 16% of downloads of the first edition so far says enough that the probably weren't waiting for the 2nd edition after having read the first one.

The first one has had 15 days exposure, this one only three days, as we clearly mentioned in our post.

And for the record, the number of downloads of edition 2 in THREE DAYS is in excess of 60% of the downloads of the first edition, not, as you state, 16%!

Well the 120.000 views?Look at how many views a post of the glitterman gets each time, but I don't see many positive reply's to his Topics, same as there were almost none among the hundreds of posts on the Pattaya one topics.

Why not do a little basic reasearch before weakening your own argument. Out of interest we checked the last 4 Glitteman threads and found an average of 585 views.

At least you are right about one thing, the figures speak for themselves....They only speak different from what you try to tell us.

It's pretty self-evident, for sure, but thanks for giving our topic another bump.

You are right I was the only one who mentioned sold copie but you refered to having 5000 distributed copies as being an example of being successful.

So in short,if I distribute 10.000 Copies of some even greater crap as your paper, which would be very difficult to print, but don't sell a single copy that means I'm more successful than you?

Oh and you think I'm weakening my own arguments? You just strenghtend them with your comments.

Glitterman : 585 Views and little positive replies

Pattaya One : 120.000 views and 2 positive replies

Keeping in mind that ThaiVisa not only accounts for a fair portion of your target audience but also a means to increase your client base it may be a good idea to reflect higher levels of professionalism and intellect in posts which can be directly attributed to PattayaOne. Irrespective of the author's own opinion and feelings they should remember that they are representing your business when posting a reply.

As an example I have never noticed George responding without showing professionalism.

Involve your reader base instead of ridiculing them and you may find the criticism becomes constructive instead of the current schoolyard name calling.

I think some posts have misteriously disappeared overnight.Could it be that it has to do with saying the truth about a sponsor, which is not appreciated here of course.

No. It's about the interactive nature of the forum being abused by some spammers and trollers, who, in real life, may work for or even own rival publications or media in Pattaya or Thailand, and who may have a commercial interest in persistently flaming on the forum. Obviously we cannot tell from board names.

Fair negative comment, constructive criticism and suggestions on how to improve the paper, and any positive feedback, are all welcome, flaming, trolling and off-topic posts are not, especially when people who hate it can just avoid the forum and not read the paper.

^Haha. I got accused by a moderator of working for a rival publication - it was along the lines of if I criticise Pattaya One then the obvious reason is that I must work for a rival. Which isn't the case, although I had a column for The Nation years ago when it used to be a newspaper.

Howard - if you can't see the flaws in Pattaya One, the Editor and Publisher can't either then really there is no hope is there?

It exists solely to sell budget condos to bar hopping dreamers and give a few mates the chance to see their name in print.

I agree with you to a point, but when you put yourself out there in a public forum such as this, you are always going to get positive and negative comments. Of course, if those comments are too abusive then they should be removed, however negative comments CAN be constructive IF you take notice of them.

I think it's completely wrong for you to assume that people saying bad things are automatically working for rival publications etc, perhaps it would be better seen as a chance to improve your publication/reporting/content so that more people are happier and you then get a larger target market.

Currently (to me), the "paper" in either printed or online form seems to be solely used as a vehicle for garnering advertising revenue. There is nothing wrong with this per se, however the vast majority of the negative comments you have received have been because you make little attempt to publish "real" stories that people might actually be interested in, the standard of reporting seems to be pretty low and the content seems to be fairly sensationalistic. If you can address this then perhaps the publication would be better received. Of course, if your intention is to BE sensationalistic then you are doing a good job, so carry on! You won't win any awards for reporting, but I guess if you are modelling yourselves on the lines of the "Daily Sport" then you are doing a good job.

Thanks Tatsujin, we agree with you. We welcome constructive negative feedback, and we were only concerned about one poster in particular.

Your comments about reporting - apart from the front page headline, there is no actual reporting in the publication, it is more for reader entertainment than news reporting, and that is why we have such strong columnist content. That might change as we expand, to cover some local crime, but we definitely do not aspire to become Pattaya's answer to the Wall Street Journal - or the Walking Street Journal for that matter.

We also feel there are enough "news"papers in Pattaya. We are happy to let them get on with it - for now.

Stickman is a very popular site. This was understandable a few years ago when the original Stickman was writing . But now it is a pale imitation promoting specific bars to newbies. It didn't evolve as the web evolved unfortunately, and has been overtaken by numerous other sites and forums as the place to get real info on the bar scene.

. . there is no actual reporting in the publication, it is more for reader entertainment than news reporting . . .

So why not make it entertaining?
