I am going to Australia and have been asked to take a present for someone. The present is wooden trays from Thailand. I don't think that I am allowed to take it into the country, can anyone advise?

I can understand why Aussie customs is so strict about wood. Myabe some critter is hiding inside it. I have brought back wood items a few times, treated wood.

My advice , declare it and let the customs guys decide :o

No Problem!! Declare it , they will check it for borers, if they find any they spray the trays and bobs your uncle. Nignoy

Thanks guys, seems like I can take the present after all.

I remember my mother got the sniffer dogs on her after she had a pear in her handbag. :o

Declared -- no problems, even let TG (at the time) keep 2 bottles of stinking smelly fish she bought at a road side stall prior to our departure. I had to warn em not to put their noses within 3 feet of the items, supprised me :o

Declared wood -- no problems. TW insisted on bringing 2 bottles of stinking smelly fish she bought at a road side stall prior to our departure. I was expecting the beagles to ‘go spare’ but they didn’t detect the shit in my back pack. I did warn quarantine not to put their noses within 3 feet of the items, surprised me :o just looked at them and waved us through.

Sorry about the double up. Something went wrong!!!
