I am currently in Thailand with my wife, we arrived in August and I was given a 3 month stamp. I have a multi entery "O" visa and need to renew my visa in November. I have my Thai marriage certificate with us. Is there someplace in Bangkok that I can gen a new 3 month stamp without having to leave the country??

Thanks in advance for any info!!

No, but if you qualify, you can apply for a one year "Extension of Stay" at Chaeng Wattana Immigration, or do a border run before your visa expiration for another 90 day stay.

To use your visa you must exit Thailand and return for a new 90 day stay.

If you meet requirements for extension of stay they can be obtained from Immigration and do not require that multi entry visa. You are aware of the 400k in bank two months or 40k per month income extension for having a Thai wife?

I didn't want to open a new topic for this common question but while you are at it, could you please confirm one more time here what we will need to bring for an extension of stay for 365 days?

I'm currently on a 90 days Non-O Visa based on marriage from Penang expiring next month and have 400k in my bank since more than 6 months untouched.

My wife is very very busy at her office so I wanna make sure not to go to Chaeng Watthana with her and then forget some important document or stuff.

THANKS!

Cheers,

guru was good enough to post this copy in Thai of requirements provided him by Chiang Watanna very recently so reading of that and the thread should prepare you. If they need something extra by might not need wife for that visit.

Thanks, guess we won't risk her not being there. Last year they also wanted to see her salary in detail and with a company letter and tax papers on top of my 400k in the bank.

The rules have changed and money must be yours alone and in your account. It used to be possible to use wife money for several years but that has changed.

Yeah, still they wanted to see the wife's salary as well last year, I know it was not an official requirement at that time anymore but they insisted. If I recall correctly it was ok to bring that over later and they agreed to start the application process already.

About this:

"Copy Kor Ror 2 from amphur office (not older than six months)"

That would be Bangrak for me.

Can I get this by myself or does the Mrs. have to join for issuing a new one? Again, dun wanna go there for nothing,

thanks,

I have never needed so don't know if there is any limitation on issue but suspect easier for a Thai to obtain. If marriage took place in last decade or so information is online and any District Office can print it out for you.

It's been 4 years of marriage. We had to go and get a new one there once for an extension application, the other times including last year they didn't mind that it was older than 6 months.

I'll go there myself then, should be fine,

Just a quick follow-up, I have brought along all the papers mentioned in guru's post and went to Chaeng Watthana, it was basically fine but a few notes:

- The bank letter can be from the day before but the bankbook has to be updated so that it shows the balance of the day of the application, the day before is not acceptable. This can also be done at the bank counter if you don't want to put money into the account. Luckily the lower basement of the new Chaeng Watthana Immigration has plenty of bank branches of all sorts. Also, the bankbook needs to photocopied

- This was new to me and I am pretty sure I have never ever needed this before: I need an older document from the time before we got married that proves that I am single, this is the one you get from the embassy of your country and that will then have to be translated into Thai before being allowed to get married in the first place

Without it they will not issue the visa, the wedding certificate(colourful document) and Ko Ro 2 from the registration office (not older than 6 months) are not sufficient.

I found that quite silly as the officer we have been with even knew us from the last times and dug up all the documents from the years before with our perfect record but she still insists on this paper which I will have to bring over tomorrow.

I am aware that this may not concern everyone but then again, according to the officer, it is a must-have if you apply newly. She said that if I had continued my extension without any gaps I wouldn't need it but I have been travelling quite a bit and let my long time visa expire and now only have a 90 day non-O from Penang.

Cheers,

Basch
