Garmin Gps Support In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

I believe there is a shop in the Pantip Plaza that handles GPS units. I want to bring either my Garmin nuvi 1350, or my son's older model 255W to Thailand with me and have a Thai map chip inserted. The trouble is that the newer nuvi 1350 takes a micro SD chip and the older model 255W has the larger SD chip. Not sure if there is support for those models in Chiang Mai. On the Garnin internet site I see they have maps of Singapore and Malaysia for the nuvi 1350 GPS but I'm not sure about Thailand. I would trade my newer model to my son and use his unit if I can't get Thai maps for the 1350 model.

Can someone answer these questions?

whenever i had to update our garmin, i do so by downloading the map and installing it into the device. I am fairly sure that when downloading the latest map it does not matter if you put it onto a chip - any kind of a chip - your choice

Yes, Eagle GPS in Pantip Plaza, 3rd or 4th floor i think and they should be able to answer your questions.

If you can't speak Thai, ask for the manager- he's a farang :)

Garmin's Southeast Asia map covers all of Thailand. I would purchase before coming to Thailand. It is $99 on the Garmin site. They have the compatible map for your device. Try https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=89538#coverageTab

Here is the link to Eagle GPS

Ian, if you purchase the Thai map from authorized Garmin dealer in Thailand, it will be locked to the unit and cannot be switched between other units. It does not matter if it is loaded on the SD or micro memory card.

Eagle GPS in Pantip Plaza (Chiang Mai) can load the map on SDmicro card (micro card with SD adapter) for you.
