Police Officer Confirms Claim of Reshuffle Scandal

A police officer who claims he was transferred unfairly held another press conference, to reaffirm his claims that there is bribery for police posts and that a close aid to the prime minister is involved.

Police Major General Wisut Wanichbutr alleged that there are bribes being exchanged for police positions and that the process is coordinated by a close aid to the Prime Minister, Sirichok Sopa.

He swore to be telling the truth, or else be dead within seven days.

He also claimed that he had been bullied and transferred to an inferior position after he cracked down on vice activities, such as gambling and drugs, saying his policy seriously affected many national and local politicians.

Wisut went on to say that those who want to be moved into higher positions must pay between 600,000 and one million baht to Sirichok.

He insists he has contributed a lot to the nation during his six month term, as he arrested 58 criminals, most of whom were subordinates of local politicians.

As for a claim that he is still displaying a royal badge despite having been involved in a lawsuit, Wisut explained that the badge was royally bestowed upon him and that all charges against him in a particular case have been dropped, while he remains innocent until proven guilty in one ongoing case.

Concerning the Prime Minister's complaint involving his appeal, the police officer said he has no channels to file a complaint, as the law states that the matter is at the discretion of the national police chief.

Therefore, he has no choice except to call for justice through the media.

However, he does plan to go to the court soon.

i don't think that will be left to fate anymore.

Good on the guy, he was doing his job properly it seems and he was removed for touching the untouchable

If he is telling the truth, he will probably be dead in seven days.

Good luck to him.

Democrat Party Songkhla MP Sirichok Sopa, a close aide to Abhisit, has continued to expose allegations that police positions were being traded for personal gain.

Interesting that Sirichok is "exposing allegations" and is also being blamed for "co-ordinating" the process.

If he is not dead by next week, he is telling the truth. A week is not too long to wait.

Sopa better get pack by next week, because the whole world will know if this police is telling the truth or not by then.

"..there are bribes being exchanged for police positions.."

Is there anyone in this country who didn't know this?

Seeing as so many people have strongly suspected this, I hope this policeman has the evidence and courage to name and shame those involved, to substantiate his claims and our suspicions. The PM and Police Chief need to show they are men of principles and support and / or protect this man. I for one don't give a monkeys arse whether the politicians are Dem or PT i'm just getting sick and tired of my tax money propping up a corrupt system and the Mia Nois of fat, aging, viagra popping politicians, whilst so many people live in abject poverty.

The quote goes on

"He had information he was ready to provide to Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban to consider the reshuffle list is approved.

Sirichok said accusations of politicians interfering in the reshuffle were made by those who had something to lose."

The quote was from August 2009, perhaps something has changed since then? Interesting last comment from Sirichok.

Surely you are not suggesting that someone is trying to destroy his credibility. It would be shocking if Thai politics had sunk to that level.

Everybody knows this...absolutely everybody. Same is true with getting kids into the proper school, getting fake uni degrees, getting a job in the customs department, getting into the army, etc, etc, etc. I have several relatives who have related their own personal stories...

I suppose one doesn't rise to the rank of Major-General without a few odd quirks, of which only a few of those found on Wisut (above) follows:

Udom Fanghad, headman of Baan Barhee, Kemraj District of Ubonratchathani Province, will file a petition to the Office of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand after Police Major General Wisut Wanichbutr showed the media the suspected drug dealer with disparaging words hanging on their necks, like non-humans or trash, together with their names and family names.

===============================================================================================================

Pol Major General Wisut Wanichbutr insists there's nothing wrong with parading suspects before news photographers with signs around their necks labelling them "wastes".

If their families or some rights group wants to sue him, says the chief of police in Angthong province, they can bring it on.

Wisut recently stuffed a bag of dope in a drug suspect's mouth and made him keep it there throughout a press conference.

Wisut knows he's been called a "psycho", but if he's psychotic in his duties, he says, it's only a mark of his determination.

=================================================================================================================

A senior police officer has pledged to watch a CD purportedly depicting a popular singer taking part in a sex party - all in the name of research.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Wisut Wanichbutr, deputy commander of the police registration division, will this evening switch on his DVD player and sit down to watch the CD depicting 'Joey Bow', or Mr. Abhisit Ophatiemlikhit, who has confessed to participating in the sex party held by a 'friend of a friend' two years ago.

The police major general promised today that he would view the CD 'in close detail and from all sides' to determine whether or not the young singer had broken the law, and if so, in what way.

What a shocking revelation...... Not !!  But let us apply a bit of logic here. So if you pay 1 million baht for a position that pays 20,000 baht a month, it stands to reason that you MUST act in a corrupt fashion to supplement your income stream to get that money. For me, nothing screams the title of a 3rd world country louder than the practice of buying a government position.... :annoyed:

Corruption and graft permeates everything in Thailand unfortunately.

My example is the 'farang fee' demanded at various Lands Title offices.

Just recently sold a house, my lawyer showed me a printed document showing the various levels of 'farang fee' which must be paid. I politely asked my lawyer "Where did you get this document?"

He looked at me and laughed and said "Your shocked that it's so open and even printed on document aren't you!" I agreed.

He continued and said, there's a pile of copies of this document at the land office, all lawyers etc., who go there know where the pile is located, the Lands Title chief has no hesitation to demand such payments and he is not afraid of anybody, there are others up the chain who also get a cut.

Not really, I just mention in a slightly ironic way a few (ex) police related people who might or might not have known about 'buying position' practices. It may surprise, but i don't know that many police officers here in Thailand ;)

Actually making public accusations with names in Thailand is a very rare event.

7 days and counting. I wonder how long it will take for him to be served with 100 gazillion baht defamation case.

I have a different out look on this. I congratulate him on the courage to go public with the news and wish him all the success with it. Kind of like talking about the elephant in the room that no body would admit was there.

I don't believe he will be killed. The resulting outrage would not only drag down those he is accusing but innocent people also.

Also I do not believe he will be sued. If he is taken to court to much will come out.

Going to be interesting maybe this is the kick start Thailand has been needing.

Well I am sure you are intimating that he did know about this based on your post, pauln clearly asks if there is anyone that does not know about this. You desire to be a smart arse and drag Thaksin into another thread where it is not really warranted or needed and just made you look a tad silly and pretty much showed how desperate you are to discuss the man, dragging him into a thread that is not about him or his party, why don't you focus on the fact that a dem is accussed here or are you not allowed to slag them off, you would rather try misdirection and blame others. Wow it seems you are actually turning into a democrat member of parliament.

Thank you for your profound observation.

PS where did you read Wisut Wanichbutr was a Democrat Party member?

PPS last I voted in the Netherlands, only 15 years ago I voted CDA (Christian Democrats). The only similarity is in name, not in program.

No problem, since you seem so thankful I will highlight in every thread when you drag him into it with your agenda to derail threads, it is not needed, if you want to discuss him I am sure there are plenty of threads about him for you to do that.

edited because I noticed you also edited, all I will say is Democrat Party Songkhla MP Sirichok Sopa

Personally I think you are way over reacting. A question was asked and he answered it. to bad you don't like the answer. He made no accusations you on the other hand have.B)
